Since we seem to be on the topic of dogs

Our Golden Retriever has eaten the following things:

1 dozen fresh cupcakes (several were still in the paper shell when he threw them up !)
half of a pepperoni pizza
chicken breasts, cake, and other items that were thought to be safe at the back of the counter. We know better now.
The most memorable ? With five people in the kitchen - and not a single person aware - he ate 3/4 of a peanut butter 'n jelly sandwich. You think "What's so special about that?" It was still in the hand of the girl I had made it for ! He ate around her hand and she never felt it, and no one saw him do it.
God, I love this pooch !

When I was little, my mama had this little yappy dog that was a terrier chihuahua mix, I think. She always had a fondness for little yappy dogs, but that one was her favorite. Back then, throw rugs and pole lamps were the height of fashion. :rotfl2: For those of you who are not familiar with pole lamps, they were light fixtures on a pole (duh!) and the pole ran from the floor to the ceiling. Kind of like a spring tension rod, only vertical and with lights on it.

Anyway, that dog chewed off the electrical cord to every pole lamp my mama had, and he did it right where it connected to the pole. Amazingly, he did all this gnawing when the things were plugged in and somehow routinely avoided electrocution. His next trick was to take her throw rugs, grab one side, fold them over, chew out a hole in the middle and then unfold them, putting them back in place. Basically, he turned all her throw rugs into shaggy donuts. :lmao:

But she forgave that little yapper. Thing is, every time she discovered another one of his "events," she'd yell, "Dammit, dog, stop chewing my _______." Or, "Dammit, dog, you ruined another rug!" The sentence always started with dammit. The dog started answering to Dammit. Dammit became his name. :rotfl: That was 30 years ago and relatives far and wide still talk about Dammit. That's a hard name to forget.......... I;ve never known anyone else with a dog named Dammit. :dog:
