After having been to WDW over the Christmas Holidays in 2009, to include a delayed start due to the pre-Christmas 'blizzard' of 09, we decided to do it a little earlier this time. We arrived on Wednesday 28 Nov and left 5 Dec. First, the weather. It was great. Highs were mid to upper 70s and lows, low to mid 50s. Travel was excellent with everything going off on schedule and only a bit of turbulence going and coming. Accomodations at Saratoga Springs were as we requested, ground floor at the Grandstands. Buses were a bit up and down, a couple of times we had long waits but not too bad overall. We ate at our favorites spots to include Teppan Edo, Le Ceiler, Crystal Palace, The Turf Club, Prime Time, Cape May Cafe and Chef Mickey's. A note on Prime Time, our server Cooper was a hoot. I especially liked the idea that he picked on my wife for the most part.
As to the parks and attractions, lines were great, mostly 10-15 mins. Our first time at Pirates, we walked without stopping from the entrance to the boats. Soarin' and Midway both required fast passes but that was it for the whole week. Test track was closed still but we did check out the open section of the Fantasyland expansion and the DW found some things in the new shop, surprise surprise. I noticed a bit of change in the Indiana Jones stunt show. The German crew chief meets his end in a hail of bullets now instead of getting 'zapped' by the plane propeller. I wonder if this was due to some script change or the trap door wasn't working that day.
A deviation from our usual trip plan was no water park this time around. Just not warm enough for us so we went to the Fantasia mini golf complex and played the 'tough' course. Quite the challenge with the undulating fairways and greens and lack of boundaries. A fun way to pass a couple of hours, especially with the duck that was grooming the fairway by the water. We also saw the Processional, Illuminations, Celebration fireworks at MK, Fantasmic and one of the MK parades.
All in all a good trip.
