We are DVC members and every time we go to our home resort AKV our kiddos beg to go to Simba's club house. Usually we don't have the time for it but this trip in April is going to be a more relaxed trip versus going to parks and such. So my husband and I were thinking that the girls would love a little time there and we could sneak out for a dinner while they are playing. I know we get a discount but what goes on there? I feel a little wierd dumping off my kids to strangers, so it's a little hard for me. I'd love any other parents point of view and see what they had for experiences. Thanks! :thumbsup2

We have not used Simba's, but have been using the other kids' clubs for a long time. Our kids loved it, and usually asked to go back again (not in the budget). But I have no qualms about leaving my kids - they were in daycare since they were 6 weeks old or so, so that part was never a consideration for me.

They play games, do crafts, eat dinner, watch movies, they have video games, toys.

I'm just sad that my kids are now aging out of the kids club (they are 10 and 13), and we're at that weird stage where we don't really want to leave them on their own yet - limbo land.

We brought our children (ds9 & dd6) to simba's club house (sch) for a few hours last year. We were, as you are, worried about leaving our children with strangers. We decided that it was an ok thing to do and we did it. We dropped them off at SCH and went out to dinner. We had a nice, romantic few hours to our selves before picking them up. When we arrived to pick them up our DS was still playing on the video games, as he was when we dropped him off. Our DD was playing with her new friend, they were using the toys to make a "parade". It was stretched across the room. For the rest of the trip our children repeatedly asked to go back to SCH.
If you are staying at KV Mae a note of the hours that the shuttle stops running. We were unaware that they shut down the shuttle, luckily we had our car and it wasn't a problem for us.

Does BLT have a club house? Or BWV/BCV? What is the minimum age for kids at the clubs? We will have a 5, 6, and 7 year old (all three are in school/preschool, totally okay without us) on our next trip and wanted to go have an adult couples night out at Epcot (staying at BLT). I know you can hire an in-room babysitter (read that somewhere) for our villa, but the young 'uns would probably enjoy a kids club style playroom more. (Assuming its a bit like Pinnochio's Workshop at the VGC or the DCL/Aulani kids clubs only smaller?)

Simba's sounds lovely but not sure we want to drop them off, go to Epcot, pick them up, then head back to BLT ...

BLT does not have a kids club but the Poly and Grand Floridian both do. My son loved both of those on a recent trip and always asks to return. We have also been to the one at the Wilderness Lodge. It is always very hard to get my son to leave. :goodvibes

My daughter begged to go there on our last AK trip...she just kept walking by and wanted to go...so I let her go on our last night while I was packing..She had an awesome time...She was 7 and said that she would love to go again....

My boys BEG and BEG to go to the kids clubs. They have been to Simba's and Sandcastle. They prefer Simba's but honestly I doubt they could tell you why and they do love both. Lots of toys, video games, crafts, dinner is served, warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven last time, other kids to play with. In a way it is a little downtime for them. I have seen it anywhere from busy to only my kids. Everyone is friendly and my boys have never complained about any adults there. At 6 & 9 I would hear about it. My oldest used to have a serious food allergy and they handled it great. Meanwhile my DH and I get a date night. We used to stick much closer to the club they were in but have started branching out as the boys have gotten older. Last trip we went to MK and had a ball doing our own thing.

Thank you both! I'd seen the Kids Nite Out info (I thought the rates were fairly reasonable) before but wasn't sure which resorts had the clubs, figured asking here was a shortcut. Will definitely look into the Beach Club Sand Castle and the WL. Still trying to get a feel for the sprawling geography of the World vs Land.

Our boys were 3 & 7 on our last trip down in October. We took them to the Sandcastle Club one evening while DH & I went to the Yachtsman. They LOVED it! My now 4 year old still talks about how much fun he had. They were there I believe 3 hours? It was around $65-$70 for the both of them (with the DVC discount). I would book them into it again in a heartbeat. Well worth the money to us.
