Silver Pass Question? Re: Hotels

We have some family members who are CM with silver passes. They offered to use them to get us a discount on hotels for our (hopefully!) upcoming trip to WDW.

I have a couple of questions that they did not know the answers to- maybe someone here can help? We are CA natives and this will be our first trip to FL!

1. What is the discount rate? I've heard 20% or 40%. DH was a CM years ago and I cannot remember for the life of me.

2. How do we book? Does the CM have to call the employee number and book through them? Are there a lot of restrictions or black-outs (we are looking to go non-peak anyhow, so no biggie if so).


Any other info you can provide if you have gone this route before would be so helpful! I'm dying to book this thing and I'd love to have more info

As far as I know, it's not a set rate. The discounted rate varies. I know the BEST rate applies when the CM is staying in the room and is present at check in. There is a family and friends rate, but I am assuming it's not the same as if the CM was with you.
