Silly question: at WDW girls are "Princess"

what do they call boys?

I have a girl so it's always "Happy Birthday, Princess!" but what do they say to boys?

Mickey, if he could talk, would say, “Pal.”

CMs probably say Prince or Buddy.

My daughter doesn't love it, either. A friend asked me what they'll say to her son, but I had no idea. Prince sounds weird to me.

Unless you are in TSL, where boys, and everyone else is callled a toy.

All these years.... DD has always been called a princess (which she LOVES) and DS has never been called a prince (which he would have hated anyway). I can't even think of what they have called him.. maybe "buddy"

I feel like I've heard them call some children princes. Definitely not an equal amount in my experience- it seems they more heavily favor the princess routine. Likely it just comes naturally because there's so much focus on princesses- a lot of Disney princesses, princess related merch, meets, and rides, etc. They acknowledge children and birthdays for the most part-and that's probably the most significant thing to the kids.

When I worked at the Disney Store, I'd use "Your Majesty" or "Super Hero" for kids (and adults) of either gender presentation. It varied depending on what was the big display at the front of the store or what movie had just come out or where I was working (in the Castle area it was Your Majesty; if my manager was silly enough to put me who knew nothing about Marvel in that section, it was Super Hero - when we had a Cars area with the build your own car, it would be "Racer" or "Speedy"). I have enough friends along the gender spectrum I refused to stereotype.

Edit to add - It also saved embarrassment if a child was dressed very gender-neutral and had a hair "style" that did not scream "boy" or "girl" and you honestly couldn't tell which if either they identified as.

This has been my experience with my son. His button always has his name on it so they address him by name. The only exception we came across was Fairy Godmother, who called him Prince and schooled him on the proper way to treat a queen (aka his mom)

My toddler son was called “young prince” by Belle...I don’t think anyone else called him anything

At MK on my last trip they called my DS "Pal" and "Buddy"

Ariel called my son a guppy. The other princesses called him “little prince” or similar. Other cms called him Buddy, little guy or little dude. He was 1.5 on our last trip.

It kind of rubs me the wrong way that they call all girls princess automatically and don’t have a standard greeting for boys. Why are girls all generalized?

I guess they figure that generally most girls like to be called princess? I don’t know how true that is, but I’ve been called worse, so I’ll take it.

Aw, it has always warmed my heart that my girls and I have all been called Princesses. My hubby has been called King and Prince at WDW!

We've traveled with a little boy and noticed they didn't have a greeting for them normally. Just Princess for the little girls. And when I have on my crown, I am greeted with Queen, LOL
I've commented before that they don't use anything for boys on a regular basis. It's never bothered me though.
DGD likes being called Princess (even at 10). Though now I wonder, when do they tend to stop using that for the girls? When they reach adult size?

This is why I always assume they adopted the phrase. Generalizations are rarely right, as we all know, but yeah, there are worse things and of course, they are not meant to offend.

I don’t think they ever really stop using the term princess, no matter what your age.
