Silhouette Cart - to get them done at Disney?

I want to get silhouettes made of my children. I could wait until next time we are at Disney, or I could get them done here by a local artist. The local guy charges a lot more money.... about 4 times the amount that I think they charge at the Disney carts.

Can anyone comment on the quality and process of getting them done at Disney? Is it quick? Are the carts open most of the day?

My main concern is my kids won't want to sit down for it, or they'll just look a mess because we are at Disney.

The CM who did my DS12's silhouette a few years ago was AMAZING! I can't remember what we paid (it was a few years ago), but I remember thinking it was one of the most reasonably priced items in WDW and it was really special. I think wait times will be hit or miss as, at least when we were there, there was only 1 cast member doing the silhouettes. The process, once my DS sat down, was not long at all.

Once you get seated it's fast. And, the Disney crew seem to be really familiar with working with children and getting them still enough to work with, it seemed too they are very good at letting the kids get up as soon as they have the image! lol

This is one of my favorite Disney souvenirs! My mom has some of my siblings and I when we were kids and I’ve continued the tradition. Once they sit it goes super fast. We waited once for about 15 minutes, but it wasn’t bad. If you have girls I would try to smooth their hair a little bit beforehand. I usually keep a small brush in my bag. I think the quality is great, especially for the price you pay.

Here's a very timely article from Kenny the Pirate's site.

We've had them done at both DLR and WDW. I wish we had started doing them when the kids were younger. Although I did bring a profile picture of my daughter as a toddler and they cut that for me. Also brought profile pictures of our sons when they were younger and had those cut on a different trip.

They are $10 per person. It's crazy fast. If your kid can't sit long, bring a good profile picture on your phone. I have also seen them cut silhouettes of pets from photos.

We had them done at Magic Kingdom in October for a souvenir for my mom (we used to get them done as kids). The girl was awesome. I don't remember her name but it was amazing how she free hand cuts by just looking at your kid for like 30 seconds. We got them framed so it costs a little more but it's still pretty cheap, and my mom loved them.

What? I had no idea they did pets from photos. I might have to get some of my cat and dog. That would be so cute!

Wow, these looks really cool. On our last trip we did the Spirit Photography at Memento Mori Shop outside Haunted Mansion. I just saw that as of Aug 2019 they were no longer doing this. How sad!!! Glad we did it Dec 2017 when we could.

We did them a few years back. They were quick and turned out great! It's probably time to have them done again. Thanks for reminding me how cool these are.

The KTP article said to tip the artist. True? Are tips expected? Not something I would have ordinarily thought about.
