Signature Restaurant Reviews (4/26 - 5/2) with pics ALL REVIEWS COMPLETE

I knew that if I didn't do them all at once I would completely forget to finish them! I wish I could be as dedicated when it comes to scrapbooking everything!

Disney has sooo much to offer with their restaurant selections, don't they? It's sad (kinda) when you plan your vacation around the restaurants instead of the rides!!!!

You sound like me. I enjoy the restaurants, the resorts, and the many details that Disney has in the parks rather than the rides. Your reviews have helped me make the decision to go with the Deluxe DP when I do down in September. I will be staying at AKV and have two ADR's for JIKO. I need to add one for Flying Fish. Great reviews!!

Thanks for all your great reviews!

We planned our trip are the resturants and our meals!!!!!!!!! One of the reasons we are going is to EAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Try new things and have FUN doing it... we did put in a couple for my DD4 like CRT but to be honest I think that will be fun as well.. Eating in the castle every girls dream isnt it...

ok, where do i begin?? (loving these reviews, BTW!)

the citricos crab gateau seemed like a spread (and something i'd have a hard time sharing with anyone! ;) ) - it sounded great!

portobello soup at artiste pointe looked heavenly - big fan here of the mushroom! :lovestruc

i usually get a chopped salad (cobb, if available) wherever we eat, and the one you had at kona looked huge!!

my DH always gets the turkey dinner at LTT (during lunch) but he also loves pot roast, so i'm showing him your photo of it - maybe this trip he'll make a change! (it looked good!)

you're not alone: my disney trips have morphed over the years to one big "shop and dine" extravaganza!!!!

Yes, there were some things I could share but the crab gateau wouldn't be one of them! Yes, the salad at the Kona Cafe was huge! I like the LTT for dinner only because of the characters; they really do a great job of taking time with all the tables. The food though isn't anything special. I was really amazed at how good the pot roast was. So good luck in getting him to try it!!

I'm glad to see so many others plan around the restaurants! I'm feeling kind of normal now!! Thanks!:hippie:

Thanks for the excellent reviews and photos! I can't wait to try the Flying Fish when we go in Jan. I am going to order the red snapper.

Sorry about your experience at Narcoossee's. Maybe it was an off night. It is our favorite, and we have gone many many times, and always had a great meal.

Now to Thursday and Citrico's. This was going to be my special birthday dinner. The service here was phenomenal! Tiffany took excellent care of me and her recommendations were spot on.

First, the gateau of crab. Instead of using breadcrumbs in the crabcake, they use cream cheese and another kind of cheese (I forget what she told me). The result is a very smooth crabcake that melts in your mouth.

I've never had shortribs so I thought now is the perfect time to try them! Their angus beef braised boneless short ribs. Oh so delicious! No knife needed to cut them. All this wonderfulness sitting on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes.

For dessert I selected the seasonal berries gratin with the champagne sauce.
This is how the dessert was presented:

This was some kind of light, frothy cream with berries. Very light and refreshing! This is a close-up of just the dessert:

Citrico's gets top marks in my book! Worth the trip to get there!

I have a question please! Do you remember if the gateau of crab had onions in it?
Thanks!!

auntfrannie - Thanks for the review and pix from Artist Point; I somehow missed that post from last week. Anyway, looks good. I'm still on the fence about keeping that ressie. We're staying at the WL and it's for our first night. Problem is - I have AP vouchers and I want to have the DDE card to use for the dinner; which means we'll have to check in, go over to GS at MK and then back to WL for dinner. MK has late EMH that night, so we're planning on going back over after dinner. I have a feeling that once we get our AP passes we're just going to want to stay in MK. Mmmm - what to do?:confused3

One other question: I noticed you were celebrating your birthday. Was it your actual birthday or close? I'll be there at the end of June - three weeks BEFORE my birthday. My girls and I have never been at WDW this close to any of our birthdays and I thought it would be fun to celebrate it. Do you think they would have a problem with that?

I too am looking forward to the restaurants and not the rides!! :woohoo:

Thanks for sharing your reviews... b/c of them I just booked ADR at Flying Fish for my last night at WDW.. everything looked amazing! Got hungry just looking at the pictures!

I enjoyed your reviews and photos. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.

There was nothing mentioned in the menu description (I just double checked)and I honestly don't recall seeing or tasting any. I would think in such a mild dish they would come through, so I think the answer is no.

I would go to Artist Point again; it's just not a place that I would make a special trip to visit. I have another trip in Oct and will be staying at the WL for the first time. My first night I plan on going to AP for the reason you mention...I don't want to be bothered going out of the resort. I won't get the buffalo again; it just didn't do anything for me. The Portobello soup was very good though.

I celebrated my actual birthday while I was there...since I was going alone I was able to plan it that way! :) However, when I go in Oct I am taking my Mother and she'll be celebrating her 76th birthday two weeks before we're there so we are officially celebrating her birthday while we're at Disney. There have been numerous threads about celebrating birthdays and the general consensus has been that it's up to you and what you want to do. No one asked to see proof of my bday when they gave me my birthday pin and other than getting lots of Happy Birthdays and candles in my desserts that day, it's not like you're getting anything extra that's putting anyone else out. Go, celebrate, have a great time!

Thanks for the tips, auntfrannie! Others have told me also to celebrate my birthday. I'm not looking for any special perks - thought it would be fun to do though!(once you're over 40, you look for any reason to make the celebration of another birthday enjoyable! )

Isn't that the truth! I can't think of a better place to celebrate a birthday than Disney World!

What great pics and reviews!:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

We also revolve our days around where we will be eating at night.
And boy am I having a hard time picking for Dec. trip.

I am surprised by AP as this was our 2nd favorite after V&As. I loved the way they cooked the Buffalo. And we are making another ADR for AP this trip.
Cant wait to try FF. ;) God those pics look yummy! And isn't Jiko just fabulous.
Now I'm drooling again.

Thanks for the kind feedback! I'm now planning the meals for my October trip with my mother. The problem is there are so many good places but we're only going for 7 days! I'm leaning towards trying the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian as I've seen so many great posts in the review section.

<sigh> decisions, decisions!

What a great job you've done. Thanks!

Now where am I fitting CItricos into my trip.......

ANd what is with the banana choc crem brulee at Kona? THat MUST be new.
Looks fab!
