I'm signing up as a surprise to my wife and I just received a call from our guide. She says although we would be getting a 2010 use year, since we're beyond the banking window for the specific month that we'd get that unfortunately I can't bank the points for Disney. I can only bank the points for RCI.

So now my options are to RCI-bank those but have a late-year use year or go with the "original" early-2011 use year. Any vacations we would do next year don't have very good RCI options.

Sigh. I was really hoping it would work out better.

What UY are you trying to get? We just bought Aug a couple of weeks ago and had no problem banking our 2010 points. We haven't even recieved our final paperwork, but have our Member #'s and I call the day after I got the #'s to bank the points. If it is past the UY month I could see that that would be an issue, but I don't think they would be putting it in as a 2010 year if the UY month has already passed anyway.

September 2010.. they have points available but she called me back saying "Florida" wouldn't let her bank them for us since its after the deadline.

That's completely outside the norm for buying from DVC. I've never heard of them saying "no you can't bank them" when you're buying them like this.

That said, can you take a vacation *now*? :)

I wish. We'd have to use them by Aug 31st which isn't doable for several reasons.

I purchased direct last year in June for an August use year and they let us bank our 2009 points. In fact they promoted it as we would get the points to help make our decision to buy. Call back and ask again?

Call DVD and ask to talk to a manager.

We just added on (haven't closed). We have a September UY. Before we even received the contract, our guide had us call member services and tell them to bank the 2010 points. Our guide said we had one week to bank them.

I think that you should be able to bank those points. It has always been that way when one is buying points from Disney.

My guide just got called me saying "there's a way around this". Weird that this information was only supplied after we got off the phone and I was "sad". Essentially the action will be what a lot of you have said, call MS and immediately bank them.

Apparently while one group says 'No', they usually say 'yes'. If this hasn't fallen too far off the first page I'll post an update tomorrow when I see what happens.

Ask for a different Guide!

:) Not only should they let you bank them but the Guide should help you to make your first reservation, especially if you want something this year or at a popular time next year. Get a different guide.

Tell that Guide, thanks but no thanks. The sale depends on you being able to bank those points and see what happens. You may have to walk, but then you just call and speak to someone new.

That doesn't seem right to me. I have had experience with sellers calling to bank their points well past the banking deadline and Disney allowing them to bank their points. Disney has let me bank my points past the deadline a few times as well (sometimes life gets in the way of remembering when to bank).

The POS now allows banking up until the last day of the UY for retail purchases IIRC. I agree, make it a condition of the sale.

Could this possibly be a misunderstanding? Something is very strange.....:confused3

I agree with all the comments you've been receiving. This is outside the normal. Your guide is either too new to know all the rules, or isn't giving you the straight story for some reason. Either way, I'd be concerned.

If the guide continues to tell you it won't be possible, ask him/her to conference you on with the quality assurance person who will be reviewing your contract. Ask this cast member why you aren't being afforded the opportunity to bank current year points for this purchase after the deadline, when you know many other members who have been permitted to do it.

Unless those points have already been used by a member purchasing 24 points on a one time basis....

This is exactly the same for us, same purchase date and same UY. Also promoted to help us make our decision to purchase.

From your last post, it seems now they are going to be able to do something for you. Keep us posted!
