Sign The Petition To Bring Back The PeopleMover!

The people mover is pretty much a glorified parking lot tram. WDW has TTA and on a busy 3 day weekend during the busy portion of the day, we were the only ones on our entire train. The trains before and after ours were completely empty. The people mover's time has come and gone. Why not use the elevated track for something better?

heresy ! I certainly don't want the exact same peoplemover back....but i do want it's spirit, a slow, scenic, crowd eating ride around tomorrowland. Some jazzy new effects and themeing would be nice, but it shouldn't be a thrill ride.

I LOVED the people mover. It was perfect when you were tired, but wanted to be on a ride. I have very fond memories of riding it over and over when I was growing up.

YAY! I just saw that I have already signed it about 1000 signatures ago! WooHoo!

While not on my "first to do list" this was a welcome ride after a long day in the park! Last fall in DW I rode this ride by myself several times while DH ran around in the heat and crowds. This ride forced me to slow down and enjoy the scenery and take a nice rest. I would love to see it come back to DL or something similar in its place. Right now the empty track seems a waste. Personally, I hope they don't remove the one in DW!

I agree they shouldn't bring back the same ride but they can easily make it more futuristic if you know what I mean, afterall the track is doing nothing but wasting space, why not bring back the PeopleMover with a new look that everyone will enjoy!

It is really depressing to see all of the pics from the newly reopened Sub Lagoon only to see the people mover tracks rotting in the background.

Any time I've been to WDW, it's been a must for me, and I have never seen it as empty as you say you have.

It's also a good place to relax and get off your feet... I travel with usually with a friend with a foot problem, and it's a good break for him.

Signed. I agree the same old people mover would be boring, but spruce it up a bit. They've got the technology now.

I always thought they were dumb and boring as a kid but I can tell you now that I am older I miss it. It was nice to be able to go on it while in DW. The cool thing for us was we got to see space mountain with the lights on! As corny as it is the older I get the more nostalgic and I do miss some of the old stuff. I like new stuff but I admit I miss the old too.

I am all for the pm coming back!!

I miss the People Mover too! It would need some sprucing up...but it really would bring back memories for me. When I was growing up we loved to see the Grand Canyon scene, and since we're from Arizona we'd always make a joke about going to California to see it!

They could totally revamp the People Mover, and it'd be a great attraction. They could even use it as an "advertising" tool for Disney's upcoming events, movies, rides etc. :thumbsup2

I sure signed it cause theres are so many who talk about it, and it might be nice to have that extra luxury of the park. We also need more ways of getting people to move around that crowded park. It seems like no matter what time of year your gonna hit crowds, and at times it is really hard to move around. I dont even give that park 10 years and they will have to do something else about the crowd levels. A 3rd park is being discussed and that might help, but right now its getting quite congested. People mover might be the trick :thumbsup2

I love the PeopleMover! When we went to WDW in Dec, a few of us were waiting on the rest of our group in line, so we hopped on the PM. It was nice to just relax on. When we went into SPace Mtn, all of the lights were turned on because the ride was broken and people were unloading from their carts. We still talk about it and how it was one of the highlights of our trip.

As a kid, though, I hated when the "other" kids would throw stuff or spit from it. :headache:

They tried that, with the Rocket Rods and for whatever reason it didn't work. That track is just waiting for the People Mover to come back, maybe slightly updated. I remember taking a frozen banana or some other treat on there when we were tired and needed a rest. Isn't that why a lot of people go on the train, just take it around and around until their feet don't hurt anymore. Same idea, just take a load off.

Rocket Rods was "meh"... I got a chance to ride it in between breakdowns.

The reason it didn't work was because due to the speed at which they ran, and the number of cars they had to have on the track to keep the ride moving... they ran into problems related to varying weight and the unpredictable nature of electric motors.

One car would get off timing and trip a safety switch and the ride would have to be shut down and they would have to go through a bunch of test runs to get clear to turn it back on. It was a real nightmare from what I heard from a cast member that used to work there (a jungle cruise driver).

A darn shame that the track just sits there. People Mover was a fantastic way to take a break and get a "tour" of Tomorrowland.

However... I think one of the reasons they wanted to get rid of the slow moving and sometimes dark ride was because folks would get into trouble with using it as a makeout ride... and by folks I mean teenagers ;p

I miss the Skyway too (i think that's what it was called... that "ski lift" sort of ride that went from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland through the Matterhorn)... but I think that got axed for somewhat different reasons including stuff being dropped from it.
