I have a question. I recently purchased a double side by side umbrella stroller for my two girls for our disney trip. Since this will be our first trip to disney, I was wondering whether a side by side is too wide. Even though it is not as wide as the traditional one. Also, are strollers allowed in the shops at disney, like tinkerbelle's treasures? Do you have to leave them outside? Thanks for any input. princess: princess:

I personally find the side by side strollers a bit too wide. I first noticed this when I saw someone trying to get it through an entrance door at our beach condo in De. and it wouldn't fit. The poor lady had to take both kids out while I closed it for her and walked it through.
For our trip last year we brought the single stroller for our 1 year old and bought a $20.00 umbrella stroller from Babies R Us for our 3 year old. Worked great since the 3 year old was too excited and only wanted to ride in it when she got tired.
When we folded the umbrella stroller the hooks fit over the handle on the bigger stroller and the wheels went into the basket. Worked great for us on the trip.
(sorry for the long explanation)

On the other question you can take the stroller in all the shops.

I have the side by side Maclaren Twin Traveler and have used it at Disney with no problem. We fit through every door just fine, had no problems in the store and found it no problem to fold up on the bus. We love our stroller and will be using it there again.

I too have the Maclaren twin traveller and have never had a problem. My friend has the Peg Perego side-by side and she didn't have any issues either. You should be fine! Enjoy your trip! :earboy2:

My Graco side-by-side stroller is the same width as a standard wheelchair so I can go anywhere that is handicapped accessible, including WDW shops. I bet yours will fit fine, too.

My double stroller fit fine at Disney, but did not fit through any door (hotel included) at Universal. That was a pain.

There was one exit gate at Disney it would not fit through. We had to lift it up and carry it over. Don't know why that gate was narrower than the others.

The strollers can go in shops, but I didn't take mine in the park shops. Just too difficult to manuver with limited space. Took it in all the shops at DTD without any difficulty.

The only time I had a problem was trying to get in the doors to the foodcourt at POR.

We rent a very nice side by side stroller from A Baby's Best Friend every time we go to WDW. It passes through all the doors and is not an issue on the transportation, either. It is very comfortable for the little ones and has the much needed canopy. We have never had a problem with door ways.

HTH!

We've used 2 different side by sides and haven't had a problem anywhere. My Chicco Citta Twin is among the widest of side by side strollers at like 31 1/2" wide and I didn't have problems anywhere (including Tinkerbelle's Treasures ;) ). To get into our room at the Poly, I had to be sure all the wheels were pointing straight forward but it's not like it was risking getting stuck in the doorway! :)

We brought our side by side with us and had no problems. It was easier to use than the stadium front to back one and there were no arguments as to who sat in the front & who sat in the back.

:sunny: I have 5 kids(3dd and twin ds) we tried a double side by side once, and have always used two singles since. I have literiders that fold with one hand. I replied to another thread like this, because I feel that while a side by side will fit most places it is a hassle. The shops are small, usually with lots of people and during crowed times it is dangerous trying to walk down the sidewalks let alone push a big stroller. Also the bus is a pain with a big heavy stroller and kids. Remember all the stuff you pack in the basket needs to be taken out and carried also. I always use backpacks. I just find two strollers add to our ease at getting around the parks and buses. Hope this helps.

Going back in April!!! Can't wait!!!!

I used a double side-by-side for every trip until my now almost 9 year old out grew it at age 7 and we loved it.

It worked out great. They are not too wide and fit through most doors and even in shops. Sometimes I'd push in the store and sometimes I'd leave it outside.

Don't worry about bringing it!

We have 3 kids - DD and twin boys. When the twins were stroller age, we always brought two umbrella strollers with us to Disney! We had two doulble strollers (front/back and side-by-side) but I only used them when I was going somewhere alone. If my husband or mother was with me then it was two strollers. I feel that I could move through the park faster and easier with the smaller strollers.

side by side is the way to go, IMO. We were able to go everywhere in our inexpensive Kolcraft from Target and it folded up tiny, so we could slip it onto the trams easily.

I think the single rental strollers were bigger than our side-by-side

I took my Graco side by side and had no problems at all. I cant use umbrella strollers because my kids will not sleep in them. They like their comfy side by side so they can take a nap if needed while we are on an outting. Now, I couldn't imagine taking my tandem double stroller and lugging that heavy thing off and on the resort bus!

We use our side-by-side Peg Perego Aria Twin and it is great in the parks, very easy to fold and really light weight.

My twins like to sit side by side and if dh wants to go off with the older dds, I need to be able to push one easy to maneuver stroller around until he gets back.

I have the cheapest-of-the-cheap double jogging-style stroller. I can't even remember the name, but we bought it at Toys R Us 2 years ago. DD is too old for a stroller except when we go to WDW, so we figured it would be OK to go on the cheap for something we would use so infrequently. Anyway, the only place we ever had a problem was going through the MK gates.

However, we learned that a couple of the gates on the far left (as you stand facing the entrance) are wide enough to accomodate our behemoth of a stroller. Unfortunately, these gates aren't always open at closing time. So on my solo trip with DD and DS, we relied on the kindness of strangers. Two fabulous gentlemen, who were obviously great dads, lifted the stroller -- full of 65 pounds of sleeping children -- over the gate for me during the closing time rush.

Other than that, no problems at all. Bear in mind that all of WDW is handicapped-accessible, above and beyond most accesible places, and most double strollers have dimensions that are similar to the larger wheelchairs. I think my stroller is an exception to this, but even so, we only encountered one obstacle.

We have a Schwinn double with swivel front wheel. We can just barely get it into the other 3 parks but have to lift it over to get in (and out) of MK. We do need to fold it for monorail so try to take ferry when have big stroller and use peg preggo pliko for shorter MK days (one kid stands, one sits). This is convenient for monorail and train but can't hold a thing (no storage on my version).

We have a Combi Twin Savvy side by side & have used it at Disney with no problems at all. We just used it last weekend at a trade show, with HEAVY crowds, and we stil lhad no problems.
