Hi, everyone! :goodvibes

I'm considering actually trying a roller coaster when we go to WDW in December. I've been in ones that don't go upside down :upsidedow (lame, I know :guilty:) but I'd like to surprise my fiance by trying one.

What I'm afraid of is getting sick on the ride. I never tried a big roller coaster or been sick on the few lame rides I've been on, but I'm afraid of the embarrassment. :faint:

Has anyone ever been sick on a ride? :crazy2: How did you deal with it?

i doubt it'll make you sick if you feel fine on other rides, i was scared to try my first ever upside-down rollercoaster, but afterwards I wanted to go back on. You hardly realise you're upside down, infact you really don't realise at all.

Go on, try it! $50 says you'll love it!

My DH is forcing me to go on all the rides with him for our anniversary trip and I get sick on everything!! I asked around the Dis awhile ago and many people suggested Bonine. I guess it's mostly like all the other motion sickness pills but without the side affects. I haven't tried it yet but I sure hope it works or it's going to be a miserable trip for me.

Why would he force you to go on the rides knowingly that you get sick?

I was wondering the same thing! lol

I've never been sick on a ride, but I got sick right outside the Contemporary while waiting for the bus. There weren't any people around but boy was I embarassed! lol

jackie-if you haven't already bought bonine, meclizine (generic bonine) is MUCH cheaper and you get a LOT more for your money. it's behind the pharmacy counter, but non-prescription, just ask for it. i got a bottle of 100 pills (i have HORRIBLE motion sickness) at sam's club for about $5.00. one thing to note: you'll want to start taking it 2-3 days before your trip for maximum effect. i did this last year and had NO problems at wdw-and i rode everything! have a great trip!

Well...I kind of finagled my way into this trip. We were planning on going with another couple (Adamsprincess and her DH) But they found out they were having a baby. (While we were at WDW in January together, they told us while we were on the Transit Authority:goodvibes ) Anyway, they decided that they couldn't go so my DH said that we were not going either  So I begged and pleaded. In the end I had to make a couple deals...

1. Because we weren't going with anyone else I would have to do the rides with him

2. I promised to be bikini ready (Oops! :sad2: That ones not going to happen!)

3. And we would not be going again in January

As you can see by my signature I got my way with January :cool1: and I'm definitely NOT fulfilling #2 so I feel I should at least try to stick to #1. I'm sure if I really wanted to I could get out of it, but I think I should at least try.

Thanks so much for the tip!! :thumbsup2 I will definitely try it!!

I have used meclazine when I was sick (vertigo) and had great results. I have also had great results using ginger for motion sickness. You can pick it up at any health food store. You should begin taking it 2-3 days before your trip.

I think you will be fine going upside down.. I always worry about the take off on Rockin rollercoaster, if I can make it past going form 0-60 in 2.8 seconds I am fine. My Dh gets motions sickness really easy but when he never had a problem with going rocking rollercoaster but I cant get him back on tower of terror for the life of me...

I see your reply here for ginger. Can you tell me about how much a person should be taking? And does it differ for people of different sizes? I am pooh-sized, but my niece is about 125 pounds. Would we take the same dose? I want to check this out! TIA! Have an awesome trip.:cool1:

I also took generic Bonine I bought at Walmart to Disney and it worked wonderful. I have an inner ear disorder called Minears disease where you can just wake up one day and you're off balance and dizzy. It can be bad sometimes but the Meclizine works great! By the way, I also bought Bonine for kids which is a chewable tablet that actually tastes good for the kids in case they got car sick. We drove 17 hours straight during the night and they took one each before we left and they were great (my kids usually get sick driving long distances). The meclizine doesn't even make you sleepy. I have one word of caution that I wish I would've listened to before I went - don't ignore the signs on Mission Space about motion sickness. My husband talked me into going on the worst version of it and to this day I have no idea how I didn't upchuck!:headache: :headache:

I second the ginger pills. Buy some at a natural food store or a GNC. I took 2 capsules every day (I am very prone to motion sickness) starting a few days before my flightand had no problems. I also bought some ginger chews candies and snacked on one or two of those a couple of times a day.

the "big" rides at WDW are so short, you probably won't have a problem. For example, space mtn at disneyland makes me a bit...funny. however, rock n rollercoaster and Everest were so short, I didn't have time to feel anything! lol

As I recall I only took a couple a day, mabye three. Just look on the bottle or ask someone who works at the store that is selling it. Be aware there may be different pill sizes.
