This is my first ever dining report. I really enjoy reading them so I thought I should contribute to the cause. First let me introduce the gang.

DisneyWorld2011098.jpg

This is Jon, the oldest sib. He is supremely picky. Never met a vegetable that he liked except maybe corn. Adventurous with desserts but not regular food. He is a proud member of the clean plate club. He’s my protective big bro!

DisneyWorld20112880.jpg

This is Robin, the middle sib. She is a very adventurous eater, willing to try almost anything. She doesn’t like comfort foods like mashed potatoes or gravy. She is picky with desserts, mostly sticking to fruit, crème brulee or chocolate cake. She is my kooky big sis!

DisneyWorld20112881-1.jpg

This is me, queenmichelle, I’m the baby sib. Robin and Jon never let me forget it either. I’m sort of picky but trying to branch out of my comfort zone more and more the older I get. I love fruits, pastries, desserts and comfort foods best. I never finish my plate no matter how good something is.

DisneyWorld20112884.jpg

This is Meg! She is Robins 17 year old daughter. She likes almost everything but cheese and sweets. She has a very petite appetite but demands regular feedings or she gets cranky. She’s my sassy sweet niece.

This is where we ate in no particular order:

Sunshine Seasons
Woldgang Puck Express
Chefs De France
Ohana
Kona Café (breakfast twice dinner once)
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree Tavern
Whispering Canyon Café
Yachtsmen Steakhouse
Hoop Dee Doo Revue
Chef Mickey’s
Tony’s Town Square
Starring Rolls
The Brown Derby
50s’ Prime Time Café
Akershus Breakfast
Le Cellier
1900 Park Fare
Tusker House Breakfast
Captain Cooks
Cinderella’s Royal Table Breakfast
The Plaza

We had no formal rating system, just we love it, like it or didn't like it. Hope you enjoy!

This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun!

Can't wait to read all about it :surfweb:

On the first night since we got in late we stayed room only at the All Stars Sports for Jon and Me and All Star Music for Robin and Meghan. For breakfast the next morning we ate at the resort food court. Jon had some sort of turnover that he devoured, I never got a photo.
I had a cinnamon roll and chocolate milk. It did the job tasty and not too sweet.
IMG_3551.jpg

Robin skipped breakfast and Meg had a dolewhip when we checked in at The Poly. She loved it!
IMG_3577.jpg

For lunch we had The Brown Derby
The Service was excellent. The server was charming and very accommodating without being overly familiar. I’m not a fan of servers who act like your new best friend so I found this to be just perfect.
The bread service was delicious. The sourdough rolls were soft and warm. The butter wasn’t cold which is always a plus and the red sea salt was great.
IMG_3775.jpg

IMG_3777.jpg

I had the fillet of beef with just the roasted potatoes no sauce. It was delicious, perfectly cooked the potatoes had a lovely hint of garlic. I shared some with Meg. She loved the beef.
IMG_3778.jpg

Jon being picky ordered the kids chicken breast with garlic potatoes and broccoli. His serving was actually larger than mine. I think it’s great they allowed him to order this way, of course drink and dessert are separate for adults. He gave the broccoli to Meg but otherwise cleaned his plate. The chicken moist and flavorful, the potatoes were great.
IMG_3779.jpg

Robin ordered the Cobb Salad no avocado or blue cheese, dressing on the side. She shared some with me and Meg. We all loved how fresh and flavorful this was. I loved the fine mince but Robin and Meg thought it could use a bit more texture. Robin was the only one who tried the dressing and she didn’t care for it.
IMG_3783.jpg

Meg obviously just shared with everyone. She liked everything and had a clean plate.
Oh I forgot to mention, it was my 38th birthday when were there. I had my birthday button on and they gave me a free chocolate mousse with orange cake dessert. This was probably the best mousse I’ve eaten! So light and smooth just fabulous. I made everyone take a bite and it was loved by all.
IMG_3785.jpg

Meg and Robin shared a crème brulee. Jon had his own crème brulee. They all like the brulee quite a bit. Jon didn’t care for the biscotti it was served with so Robin ate his.
IMG_3789.jpg

For Dinner we had 50s’ Prime Time Café. It was raining so the lobby was packed with damp people. We waited about 30 minutes past our adr time. The waitress was nice but didn’t tease us much which is one of the reasons we like to eat there.
Jon and Meg shared the onion rings. They would have preferred and thinner cut. We all really miss the onions strings from a few years back.
IMG_3855.jpg

I had the chicken noodle soup. It was way too oniony and I didn’t enjoy it.
IMG_3852.jpg

Robin had the crap cake with succotash. She thought the crab cake was too much filler not enough crab. She really like the succotash though.
IMG_3857.jpg

I had the pot roast for my entrée. Delicious as always. The reason I eat here, hands down!
IMG_3860.jpg

Jon had the sampler plate. He loved everything except the collard greens which I bribed him to try. Robin and I also tried voluntarily. He said it’s the most disgusting thing he’s ever eaten. Robin and I didn’t like it but it wasn’t too bad. Overcooked and too meaty tasting for a vegetable.
IMG_3865.jpg

Robin had the chicken caesar salad. She liked it. One of the better caesar salads of the trip.
IMG_3866.jpg

Meg had the meatloaf. She thought it was wonderful and managed to eat more than half her plate.
IMG_3867.jpg

For dessert Jon, Robin and I had the Boston cream parfait. Let’s start by saying this thing is way too big! It was tasty but too much custard not enough cake. There are these wonderful chocolate sprinkles halfway through that are hard to get to. They need more of them at more regular intervals.
IMG_3870.jpg

Meg had and equally enormous strawberry sundae. It was yum-tastic but she was only able to finish about half due to its vastness.
IMG_3871.jpg

I was also given a free bland cupcake
IMG_3869.jpg

All in all a good food day. I usually say that 50s’ is the best but after The Brown Derby it was merely average. This deluxe plan is going to be challenging!

Today is Epcot day! We started with breakfast at Akershus. This was new to me and Jon. The included photo was with Belle. As usual they don’t take enough time to make sure everyone is looking in the same direction and smiling for the photo. I never pay for these any more for this reason but since it’s included with the meal I guess we’ll keep them.
The server was a bit too quiet and hard to hear but she kept us full of juice and cheesy potatoes so it’s all good.
The hot plate to share
IMG_3918.jpg

An assortment of buffet plates
IMG_3911.jpg

IMG_3908.jpg

IMG_3905.jpg

IMG_3907.jpg

The pastries were all wonderful. The fruit was fresh and a nice selection. We all stayed away from the more traditional Norwegian fare. The eggs were well cooked the bacon was thin but good. I’m not a fan of the sausage they seem to serve everywhere but I seem to be the only one who feels that way. Meg ate ALL the cheesy potatoes. For a gal who doesn’t like cheese she sure loves a cheesy breakfast potato!

Lunch was the much coveted Le Cellier. A first for all but Jon. Our server was insufferably slow. It took over 2 hours for lunch while the table next to us turned over twice! With the same server!! The table are far too close together but the dining room is very intimate and lovely.
The bread service was great. We all liked each bread the multigrain was popular as was the pretzel breadstick. The sourdough was the least liked but still tasty.
IMG_4068.jpg
IMG_4069.jpg

Jon and I both had the spicy chipotle chicken sausage with polenta. Jon was hesitant but really like the sausage and thought the polenta was a nice contrast to the spice. I loved the sausage! I found the polenta too sweet and too runny but edible. I could eat the sausage everyday though with many many tums!
IMG_4070.jpg

Robin ordered the duck meatballs. I don’t think anyone at the table has had duck before so we all sampled. I thought it tasted a lot like dark meat chicken which I don’t like but the glaze was devine. Robin thought them interesting and also liked the glaze.
IMG_4076.jpg

Meg had some heirloom tomato balsamic thing…she found the tomato mealy overall not great. Too bad it did look lovely.
IMG_4073.jpg

Robin had the Le Cellier house burger. She thought it was good asked for barbeque sauce on the side and it came on the burger. She didn’t care for the sauce but it was just a little so she muddled through.
IMG_4083.jpg

Jon and I had the New York strip with frites. Meg had the New York Strip with cream cheese mashed potatoes. The steaks were very good perfectly cooked the bercy butter was a lovely addition. The frites were average. Meg thought the mash was rich and creamy not too cheesy.
IMG_4078.jpg

IMG_4080.jpg

For desert Jon had the maple crème brulee. He said it was wicked awesome and devoured it entirely.
IMG_4091.jpg

Robin and Meg shared a chocolate mousse I had my own. The cookie antlers and tongue were the best part. The mousse was very rich, nice and chocolatey.
IMG_4088.jpg

For dinner we went to 1900 Park Fare. The only real disappointment of the trip. They stuck us in this little back room. It took forever for the characters to get to us. The characters themselves were kind of meh. Except Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drusella. They were very funny. They should make this a villains dinner! The food I found very limited and not that great. The strawberry soup wasn’t as good as I remembered even. This place was just a real miss. I only took photos of my desert plate. Don’t be fooled they are not nearly as good as they look! The fruit tart being the one exception.
IMG_4128.jpg

Overall a mixed day. Some really great food some mediocre to bad service. I'm not sure I'd go to Le cellier again, but Akershus for sure!

Great reviews and pics! I'm looking forward to reading the rest:goodvibes

Terri

A siblings trip, I love it! I'm taking a trip next year with my husband, parents, and my brother. My brother is super picky so it's good to know that your brother could order off the kids menu if he wanted to!

The buffet stuff at Akershus breakfast looks delicious! I love pastries and fruit so I'd be happy with just that. I know you didn't have any but do you remember what kind of traditional Norwegian foods they had at breakfast?

The creme brulees so far look great, I love creme brulee!

They had like pickled herring and capers, that's all I can remember at this point. If you love creme brulee you'll love my report! Lot's of creme brulee, It's my bros favorite!

Fun review!! I can't wait for more. My sister and I take a trip together every year and we have the best time. My daughter and I are going to Le Cellier next month and your pictures are really making me anxious. Mmmm...steak!

Today is Animal Kingdom day. None of us are too fond of the dining options at Animal Kingdom.
We decided to try the Donald Duck breakfast at Tusker House. Our server was this tiny fast adorable lady. She kept the table clean and the juice glasses full. We all loved the selection and everything was fresh and tasty.

IMG_4194.jpg

For lunch we ate late while we took a break at the resort. We had Captain Cooks.
Robin and I both had pepperoni flat bread. It's greasy and you need to blot it first with several napkins but the crust is nice and crispy and it's better than any of the "pizza" you can get at the park counter service places.
WP_000119.jpg

Meg had the turkey club and poly chips. The sandwich was good but the poly chips are the best
WP_000118.jpg

For dinner we went too Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness. We have all been several times before. They did change the show a bit and the new opening number isn't quite as catchy but the show is still corny good fun. I always laugh my booty off during the Davey Crockett portion of the show. I just love bear puns! The food was plentiful and tasty. Robin mostly ate cornbread and salad. The waitress even gave her the recipe for the cornbread she had so much. The fried chicken was great, the ribs a little tough. The sides were great but I would have liked if they started with more mashed potatoes. Dessert was fabulous as usual.

This was a great food day. Everything was delicious and we had good service all day as well. This will be a tough day to beat.

The Tusker House Breakfast looks better than I would've expected from reading other reviews on here! I also would like to see the Hoop de Doo show one day but have been putting it off because I'm not a big fan of that style of food. The dessert there looks great though!

Great start...But you sure could have picked better photos of mom and me!!!

LOL - I'm guessing you're Meg...

I say the pictures add character... and Disney is all about characters! :goodvibes

Great start on the reviews, queenmichelle! Keep 'em coming!

Great start...But you sure could have picked better photos of mom and me!!!

What? Pirate finger is cute and I wanted a funny picture of you. I had so many good ones to choose from. And seriously your mother will not let me take a normal photo of her!!!

I thought the one I picked sort of captured the essence of the person, except mine but I had very few usable photos of me to choose from.

I would say hands down that Tusker House was my favorite breakfast of the trip. I can't wait to go back on my next trip! My sister isn't a big fan of the type of food at Hoop Dee Doo either but she still goes. You can fill up on the things you do like. (she does salad bread and dessert)The show is soo worth it!

thank you so much for your reviews and photos..
My favorite two breakfasts are the Princess in Norway and then Tuskerhouse...we have always enjoyed the selections and the characters...

We didnt really enjoy 50's prime ....maybe someday we will try it again. BUT will agree the hot fudge sundaes were HUGE..

Thanks again

Today is Magic Kingdom day!! Everyone is excited!
We started off with and early breakfast at Crystal Palace. The server was very absent for most of the meal. Drinks sat empty and plates piled up. The characters came pretty fast so not too much waiting. I will say I'm not a fan of all these prerecorded character meal annoucements and parades that they seem to have EVERYWHERE these days. I kind of miss the way they used to be, it certainley was at the very least a bit quieter. The eggs were well cooked, The fruit fresh but a bit limited. Great croissants, flaky and buttery. Loved the chocolate mickey waffles! Also why is there no regular butter on the buffet? I abhor margarine and we had to wait forever for our slow server to come round just to ask for butter and then forever for him to bring it!

Lunch was Liberty Tree Taven.

I had the soup of the day which was spicy sausage and vegatable soup. This was delicious! Meg had a few bites and liked it as well. I'm trying to figure out the recipe to make at home.

DisneyWorld20111706.jpg

Robin and Meg had tavern fried cheese. Meg thought the cheese was really good. Robin found the curds to be a bit greasy.

DisneyWorld20111708.jpg

Jon skipped the appetizer. He and I both had the pilgrims feast for our meal. As usual it was too much food! Everything was wonderful. We asked for extra gravy, the brought a gravy boat of tasty goodness!

DisneyWorld20111710.jpg

DisneyWorld20111715.jpg

Robin and Meg each had the colony salad. Meg wanted the declaration appetizer salad but the server wouldn't allow it even though it cost way less. Meg was not pleased. She ended up mostly nibbling my soup and entree and had a bit of the salad. she would have been much happier with the salad she wanted. Robin was pretty meh about the salad as well, she liked the craisins...

DisneyWorld20111711.jpg

Meg and Robin skipped dessert. Jon had the bluberry fruit crisp with mascarpone sherbet. He loved the crisp but hated the mascarpone sherbet.

DisneyWorld20111716.jpg

I had the ooey gooey toffee cake. OMG was this thing rich and gooey and freaking yummy!!

DisneyWorld20111719.jpg

For dinner we went to Whispering Canyon Cafe.
I wasn't feeling well at all so I just had a drink. Jon had no app and Meg and Robin shared the western chips and queso salsa dip. They loved this and ate every last bite.

DisneyWorld20111735.jpg

Jon, Robin and Meg ordered the BBQ skillet. Now I have to point out that Meg and Robin are not big BBQ fans...I'm still confused about why they ordered this. Jon however LOVES BBQ, he found everything great, nice smoke flavor good sauce great selection of meats. I sat there jealously watching them eat. Sorry I wasn't feeling well so no photos. The meal ended with my birthday cake!! I ate a tiny piece. It was red velvet. The restaurant should have let it sit out longer it was super cold. It broke the knife they gave us to cut it!

DisneyWorld20111736.jpg

When I got back to the room I found a birthday surprise from my hubby.

DisneyWorld20111789.jpg

Yummy, my favorite treat in the whole world. I ate a few and saved the rest for everyone else.

Today is a non park day. We went to Downtown Disney and got our shop on. We also chilled at the Poly a little but then it down poured on us at the pool and they closed it.
We had Breakfast at Kona Café.
Jon had the tonga toast. He ate every bite. He loved it, it’s his favorite breakfast at Disney World.
DisneyWorld20111806.jpg

DisneyWorld20111801.jpg

Robin had the ham and cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. She thought the biscuit was good but unnecessary. She liked everything.
DisneyWorld20111807.jpg

Meg had the macadamia nut pineapple pancakes with bacon. She thought the pancakes were delicious.

DisneyWorld20111810.jpg

I had the regular french toast with bacon. I thought this is about the best restaurant french toast I’ve ever had.

DisneyWorld20111804.jpg

For lunch we had Wolfgang Puck Express.
Robin had the pesto chicken sandwich with chips. This is probably my sisters favorite thing to eat in the entire world not just Disney. She devoured it entirely even though it was huge.
DisneyWorld20111899.jpg

Jon had pizza with pepperoni and bacon. He loved it but too bad my photo was so bad I deleted it. Trust me it looked tasty.
Meg had penne with meatballs. She thought it was fresh and tasty but a bit heavy handed with the garlic. The portion is huge on this as well.
DisneyWorld20111894.jpg

I had the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes. This was delicious. I love this and get it every time.
DisneyWorld20111893.jpg

Jon and I each had the crème brulee. I was thick and served cold with is how we prefer it. The strawberry on top was lovely and ripe.
DisneyWorld20111896.jpg

Meg had frozen yogurt with brownie bites. The yogurt was good but the brownie was dry and not tasty.
DisneyWorld20111901.jpg

Robin skipped dessert. She was too full from the sandwich.

We went to Goofy’s Candy Company to spend some snack credits. Here are a few photos of the cases.
DisneyWorld20111907.jpg

DisneyWorld20111916.jpg

DisneyWorld20111917.jpg

to be continued...

For dinner we went to Yachtsmen Steakhouse. This was a first for the whole gang. While waiting to be seated we had drinks at Crews Cup Lounge.
DisneyWorld20111967.jpg

I love the tea sugar service here!
DisneyWorld20111973.jpg

The bread service was to die for good. The butter was soft with wonderful sea salt. The sourdough rolls had a nice crunchy crust, but the onion pull apart bread, I could probably live on it, it was just so darn good!!
DisneyWorld20111974.jpg

My sister wanted to try the sweet potato beignets so she ordered a side for the table. They were good. Robin loved them. I would had liked it if they added just a touch more cinnamon to the filling.
DisneyWorld20111979.jpg

Robin had the caesar salad for her appetizer. She thought it was over dressed but still very good especially the crouton.
DisneyWorld20111981.jpg

Jon had chicken noodle soup with I didn’t get a photo of. He liked it but again too oniony. What’s with the oniony chicken noodle soup at Disney World?
Meg tried the lobster bisque. She thought it was very lobstery which is great if you really like lobster, but she doesn’t.
DisneyWorld20111984.jpg

I tried the seared sea scallops. I’m not a big seafood eater. I didn’t like this at all. Meg tried some too she likes a lot more sea food than me. She gave it the best description. Hot fishy jello!
DisneyWorld20111976.jpg

For our entrees we all ordered the porterhouse. Jon and I had ours with the paprika fries. Meg had hers with mashed potatoes. Robin had hers with the gratin potatoes. The steak was superb. One of the best I’ve ever had. Everyone else agreed. The garlic butter on the steak was just perfection. Meg even asked for more and dabbed a little on each bite of steak. The sides were good but the steak was definitely the main event.
DisneyWorld20111991.jpg

DisneyWorld20111988.jpg

DisneyWorld20111985.jpg

For dessert Robin and Jon had the crème brulee. The raspberries were perfectly ripe the biscotti was delicious and the custard was delectable.

DisneyWorld20112000.jpg

Meg ordered the white chocolate puzzle, brownie and cupcake from the children’s menu. The brownie was moist and chocolaty. The cupcake had great frosting but was just ok. She put together and painted the white chocolate puzzle, which she enjoyed.
DisneyWorld20111998.jpg

I had the lemon pudding and blueberry milkshake with blueberry fruit leather and candied lemon. This is quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had. The varied textures and flavors and levels of sweetness. It was complex but exquisite! I could have skipped the entrée and had 3 of this.
DisneyWorld20111996.jpg

As we enjoyed our desserts the server brought by a plate of mini madeleine cookies which are my absolute favorite. They were wonderful and an unexpected treat. We were stuffed but managed to squeeze them in.
DisneyWorld20112002.jpg

Now I will say this meal was the highlight of the trip, however the service was slower than it needed to be. We thought it would take a little over 2 hours but took over 3 for the meal. That would be our only complaint whatsoever regarding this superb dining experience.
Over all this was a pitch perfect dining day. I could redo this day exactly on my upcoming trip.

I finally read all of the report so far! It's great, and makes me remember all of the yummyfood I ate. And now...I NEED to go back after seeing these photos. I really could go for a dole whip right about now, too :cloud9:
