Shuttle Service from outside the park - what did you think?

We plan on staying at a Fairfield where I understand the shuttle runs every 2 hours so you have to make the first one that runs just after 8.

I understand all shuttles only take you to Epcot where you have to get on the monorail to the MK. Can anyone advise of their experience doing this?

Also, how did you find the return shuttle. We're going on a day where they are closing early (at 7 for the MNSSH event) and the shuttle doesn't pick up until 8.
