Shuttle or Car to MK?

Hi all -

We are going to Magic Kingdom for exactly one day - Easter Sunday - this year. We will have our car with us, and we'll be staying at the Lake Buena Vista Palace. What makes more sense in terms of convenience - driving and parking at the transportation center, or just taking the hotel's shuttle? We are going to try to get there around 8 or so to enjoy Main Street a little before rope drop and plan to stay through the end of the night. I know we'll have to pay the extra $25 to park, but if it's more convenient to do that to maximize our one day, I have no problem with paying.

Or - are there other ways to get there that I'm missing? Last time we were at WDW was 5 years ago and we stayed on-site and without a car!

Thanks!

The issue I always have with hotel shuttles is they often run rather infrequently - so it could be tougher catching one back to your hotel than it is taking one to the MK. If it were us, and we had the rental car, I'd pay the parking and have the flexibility of controlling when we leave - especially since it's likely to be a pretty busy day at the park.

You could take Uber or Lyft. Take it to the Contemporary, then walk over to MK. Uber and Lyft drop off and pick up at the TTC. So going to a from the Contemporary will get you the closest.

Oh! I like this idea! Plus, it might be fun to show the kids the Contemporary. (I stayed there once, about 35 years ago!)

Yeah - that's what I was worried about! We're stopping in Disney as part of a larger road trip, so we have our car with us.

If you are feeling rich you can take a Minnie Van and go right to MK. If you are poor you can walk to Saratoga Springs or take an Uber to Saratoga Springs and take the Disney bus from there. Middle of the road would be to Uber to the Contemporary.

I had never heard of the Minnie Van! That's adorable - but what else to expect from Disney, other than extensive theming and the ability to monetize anything?

Used strategically, like going to MK or the dinner show at Fort Wilderness, it can save you some time. Traditional public transportation can't go directly there. Some people will pay more for a Minnie Van for the cute car and some guests fearful or unfamiliar with of riding in an Uber or taxi will have a "safe" alternative.

I'm definitely not unfamiliar with Disney and have taken Uber a ton, but this might be worth doing since we're only there one day.
