Just wanted to let everyone know that the window for the next shuttle launch is scheduled for August 27th through Sept. 13th. If the shuttle does launch on the 27th as currently scheduled how long of a drive is it from Atlanta, Georgia to Cocoa Beach? I watched the Apollo Soyuz lift off in 1975. I was 9 years old and still remember that day vividly. It's something I will never forget! My brother was 7 at the time and swore that he saw the astronauts waving to him. hehe

It depends on where in Atlanta you would be coming from... But it should take you about 8 hours to drive from Atlanta to Cape Canaveral.

We are very excited about the shuttle launch. We say the launch of Discovery last year from Jetty Park (by the cruise ship terminal) and then we went out to the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex for the launch of Discovery last month, but when it was scrubbed we were not able to go back to see it... We watched the launch from the Magic Kingdom, which was still very cool. This time we have taken off work to go out to see Atlantis go up, regardless of when it happens. I am so excited. I can't wait!!!
