i'm looking at doing a one way rental from Orlando airport to Cape Canaveral. We're going to fly in a couple days early and spend time in Cocoa Beach at the Hilton. One option is to keep the car and return it on the way to the port. Do most of the rental car companies have shuttles to the port? I'm looking at renting from Dollar right now. The other option is to return the car early and take a shuttle from the Hilton.

Anyone with experience on this?

Thanks very much

I believe all the rental car companies have on office in Port Canaveral (with shuttles).

We did a rental car return at Port Canaveral on our last cruise. As far as I remember all the big rental companies have an office there and regular shuttles back to the boat. They are all spread out along one long road and you will pass several gas stations if you need to fill up before returning your car. We found the return a little stressful as we hadn't looked at a map beforehand so we didn't know where we were driving, thankfully a friendly person in a gas stations gave us directions. The shuttles can get quite busy as everyone returning their cars is trying to get back to the port so be prepared to wait in line for a shuttle or two. If there are others travelling with you it might be easier to drop them and your luggage off at the port first then return the car, that way you might get on a shuttle quicker as a single person with no luggage.

Depending on what time you get to the return location it can be very busy. If you are impatient like me google a few taxi phone nbrs just in case the line for the shuttle is too long.

Not all rental cars are returned at the port. I'm trying to remember which one I had a while back but we had to drive in to downtown port canaveral and then took about a 20minute shuttle ride to the port. (i want to say its budget not 100% though.)

I don't think any of the rental cars are returnable at the port. I believe all the rental companies are located off site, in town.

They are all off-site and most have shuttles. I've used Avis and (I believe) Alamo previously. At the end of the cruise, when getting off the ship there are also locations to be picked up by their shuttles. It is in the same place as picking up the DCL bus to MCO.

We returned a Dollar rental car to the depot at PC (having picked it up at MCO). We just hopped on their shuttle straight to the actual port, there was only a very short wait. Also, if you have booked through DU, the welcome centre is just across the road from the Dollar return depot - well worth a drop in.
