My dd and I will be at the PPH for a week in March. I have a car rental reserved for @ $168, but I can't decide whether I should keep that or not. I will be paying $18 per night for a car that will probably mostly just sit there. Right now we only have plans to leave Disney property for one day to got to the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area. Should I book a shuttle instead and just rent a car for the day? I am seeing one day rentals for @ $30 for one day. Anyone know how much it costs to take the Disney shuttle? I priced out the Super Shuttle and it is $200!

Any advice is appreciated :-)

How did you get such a high price for SuperShuttle? I have a trip booked in 2 weeks, and it is $30.60 for my wife and me to the Fairfield Hotel, total both ways is $61.20.

edit: use code SXSW4 and get 10% off of the price.

We went the car rental route for Star Wars race weekend. We found a medium SUV through Alamo on the Costco Travel site for $70 and change for 5 days. It was $7.40 per day plus tax. The only time we drove it was to and from the airport, for a small grocery run at Target, plus we spent a day in Hollywood/Santa Monica. It was much cheaper than the shuttles and more convenient.

I had the same question, but I think she's talking about using SS for the trip to Santa Monica.

Price out rentals from the Alamo DTD and also Alamo/National (and maybe Enterprise) from the Katella location at Alpine Inn. The latter has a shuttle to, at the very least, bring you back to the hotel (and likely get you from the hotel, but we didn't need that service).

Thanks everybody for your answers!

To answer your question -- I priced the SS that is not shared. I've decided that my DD and I will get an UberX driver, that way we will be able to go directly to our hotel. Then we will just rent a car for the day that we want to go to Santa Monica. Since we are going the week leading up to Easter, should I reserve that car in advance?

I would definitely book your car rental in advance. If you are a Costco member they seem to have the best prices we have found!

And keep checking for price changes. Book and rebook as necessary. The price fluctuates a lot.

100% agree - I have likely re-booked my rental car 3 times now with the price dropping significantly.

Now that make sense. The drive up to Santa Monica is a long one, and in the LA traffic.. sometimes just yikes.

Oh my gosh I soo wish I could find some place with that great of a rate for a rental car!! All I have found have been expensive! I am trying to fig out how we are gonna get to/from the airport but we also have 2 days of exploring we are going to do so we will need a car for that. We usually drive so we don't have this problem but this trip we are flying.
