Shutters at Caribbean Beach Resort...Opinions Please

DH & I are on the dining plan and have 1 more TS to set up. We are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort. Can I get some opinions on Shutters please...Thanks.

We went last August, and I would rate it as just OK. I would not make a point of going there again, but if you are staying there it would have a certain convenience factor.

Loved it more as Captain's Tavern. Food was good, but I got the feeling we were in a food court, with just a small partition, you know? I could still hear the clatter of the food court. But, I think the food is wonderful...

My Dh, DBro17 and I, ate here in Aug. of 2003 and we thought the place was actually pretty good. We were staying at CBR and we ate there the first night. We just walked in without an ADR and we were the only ones eating in the dining room until dessert time when another family came in. We had yummy Jerk Chicken, Mashed potatoes and some good alcholic beverages. My brother liked the tropical fruit smoothies. However, this was three years ago. I say give it a try, you might be surprised.

Just a quick positive note about Shutters: The food is actually quite good though they have somewhat "Americanized" the menu since the reopening after the renovations of a few years back.

The prime rib and sirloin steak is as good as you're going to get anywhere on property. The organic grilled vegetables (pencil thin asparagus when we were there in January) were great, and the beer-batter onion rings were sensational!

Atmosphere is spartan. We will dine there on the night we check in to the CBR during our next trip.

Hello,

We were at CBR this past December and ate at Shutters our first night. It was the worst meal I have ever had on property. I have been to WDW 12 times and we almost always stay at CBR, but have never ate at shutters before. We actually researched it before we left and the reviews were not that great, compared to other restaurants, but we figured we would make our own opinions. I had the prime rib and it was awful, as was the rest of the meal. I do not remember what everyone else had, but nobody liked it.

anyway...that was our experience. I would not waste a TS there, when there are so many great other places to eat.

I have dined there on one occassion. It was good, , nothing to rave about, but it was good. I had a steak and I did like the steak at Shutters better than the steak I had at the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary.
