Hi, everyone! My DH and I would like one great steak dinner. We've never dined at either. Which would you choose? We're leaving in 2 weeks! :cloud9: Thanks!

I've never eaten at Shulas but did eat at Yachtsmans in December and it was the best meal I have ever had. Everything was faultless, the food, the service, the atmosphere, all perfect. I am definitely doing Yachtsman again on my next trip.

DH and I would pick Shula's! It's expensive, but the best steak we've ever had! We love the atmosphere too, and the service is outstanding! We had 3 servers for our table and they were wonderful! We really felt pampered! :goodvibes

We ate at both the second week of March. The YSH was our WORST dining experience of the week. Both steaks were under cooked. Service was mediocre and side dishes were bland. The one positive was the Banana Fosters martini. Shula's on the other was a great meal. The steak was huge, better quality and cooked perfectly. The sides and appetizers blew YSH away. The service was exceptional but stuffy as expected.

i have another vote for shulas the food is great and so is the service

Another vote for Shula's!! We ate there in Feb. and it was fabulous! Perfect steak, drinks, desert, service in a wonderful adult atmosphere. It was very expensive, but worth it. I would make ps's now, since it attracts the meeting/convention crowd.

I've never eaten at Yachtsman, so I can't comment about them.

Thanks so far for the replies!1..Iwaseeyore, how "stuffy" and what sides and appetizers were especially great? Thanks again! :cloud9:

We've eaten at both on different occasions. Have had a great meal at both. However, I agree with the "stuffy" atmosphere of Shula's. I liked the atmosphere at YS. Shula's is dark, no windows, at least where we sat. YS is a little more open, I like that better. I also like to wear my shorts and sandals during the length of my vacation, that didn't feel appropriate at Shula's. Nothing wrong with that, just not what I want.

You won't go wrong with either. I have not tried, but have heard excellent reviews about LeCellier in Epcot, Canada. That may also be another option for you too.

When the Yachtsman steak house was first opened they served prime cuts of beef. Several years ago, I would say maybe 8 at least, they switched to choice. I can buy choice in my grocery store. If Shula's serves prime, go for that. Also, one of the best steaks, (atmosphere lacking) we have ever had in the WDW area was off property at Charlie's Steak House. or it could be Charley's Steak House. I don't remember the spelling.

We ate at YSH and enjoyed it but my favorite steak so far was at the Blue Zoo. Yes, I know it is a seafood place but my steak was fabulous! The atmosphere was really cool, too. It was a mom's night out for us, so we wanted to dress up a little. The appetizers were great too! We plan on doing Shula's and Blue Zoo on our next trip. The free child care was pretty nice too!

We LOVED LOVED LOVED SHULA'S!! WHat an amazing meal!! Food excellent....service excellent...quite atmosphere. It is pricey...but we felt well worth it. Our favorite side was the creamed spinach. The dessert...was a warm chocolate fallout cake! TOO DIE FOR! :faint: We did not find it stuffy...but my DH & I enjoy getting dressed up for dinner. ANd what I mean by dressed up... I wore a sundress & he wore Dockers & a button down shirt. No jacket or tie required.

We have a PS at the YSH this month. I hope I won't be dissapointed after being at Shula's. We thought we would try something different for my birthday celebration. Should I change back to Shula's??? :confused3 I don't want to be dissapointed. SOme mixed reviews on here for YSH.

Anyone care to give the birthday girl thoughts too on this???

It could be stuffy, but we didn't let it! :rotfl: We took our football menu and tossed it to one of our servers, and from then on they joked around with us and we had a lot of fun!

We love how they roll out a cart with the food on it before you order and explain what everything is. Example: "This is broccoli" (while they're showing you a whole head of broccoli!) And yes, you DO get the whole head of broccoli!! Make sure you split the side dishes!

The potatoes are HUGE! The creamed spinach is very good!

We learned to NOT order an appetizer or salad. You will get so much food you won't be able to eat it all anyway.

Stuffy was said with a grain of salt. It's a common description here of the service. We had a shrimp cocktail for an app and baked potatoe and asparagus for sides. All were big enough portions to share.

We never ate at Shula's, we have ate at Yachtsman.

Yachtsman was the absolute worst steak and service we have ever had. Definately not worth the money. Steaks were very low quality, full of gristle.

We love YSH and have always had a fantastic meal there. In Feb. we went to both YSH and Shula's, we had excellent meals in both but Shula's was fantastic. We were a party of 7 and everyone had a great meal. It is about double the price of YSH. The service can be described as "highbrow" or "stuffy", but we were laughing and joking the whole evening, and our waiter "relaxed" and started joking along with us before too long. As mentioned above be careful ordering side dishes, they are hugh, also included with the meal were sauteed mushrooms and sauteed peppers, if I had known that I wouldn't have ordered a side dish. Even with the 7 of us, our sides were barely touched.

I like Shula's better, the steak is fantastic. We ate at YSH last month and DH's porterhouse was full of gristle.

Ive never eaten at Shulas, but loved YSH! Everything from the bread with the garlic, right through to our complimentary dessert was amazing. I cant imagine a better meal.

We eat at both in Dec. YS was so bad I will not go back. I have had better Steaks at the chains like Outback or Longhorn. The sides were not good and the service was just OK. Then at Shula's two nights later I had one of the best steaks I ever had and the service was top notch. I will be back to Shula's but not YS.

Thanks so much for the information! Made PS for Shula's! Any recommendations for special desserts there?
