Is shulas that much better than yachtmans or are they about the same. Any opinions on Bluezoo. We want to do shulas or bluezoo because of the free child care. Trying to decide between shulas/flying fish or yachtsman/ bluezoo. I want one night seafood and one night steak.

Shula's IS that much better than Yachtsman, IMO. Bluezoo is as good of seafood restaurant as Shula's is steakhouse. Can't lose either way, just depends upon what you want to eat.

Although Flying Fish is pretty good, it does not come close to bluezoo. Food quality, service and adult atmosphere at bluezoo make it our favorite WDW restaurant.

Can you take kids to bluezoo. I don't want to put them in camp dolphin twice.

Sure. If they can handle the 'fancy' meals, it's no problem ... We had one child who was always exemplery and the second who caused us to eat lesser quality food for a few years (LOL).

Shula's is significanty better than the Yachtsman, although the Yachtsman is good in our opinion. Never done Bluezoo, though.

How does the free child care with Shula's work? Do you set it up when you make your reservation?

Yes, wondering the same thing. Just made reservations for 5/13 and thinking I would put the kids at the AKL child care since we are staying there. However if there is free child care....even better. :thumbsup2

Thanks

Shula's is much better than Yachtsman.

Also, BlueZoo is a true dining experience - a great "date" place but you can also take the kids - it is Disney after all.

We tried Blue Zoo for the first time a few weeks ago. I think my expectations were a little too high. For this particular meal I didn't think it was any better than Flying Fish. It may have had more of an adult atmosphere, but it was very loud (more so than FF) and filled with young thirty-something business types who were obviously there for some kind of convention. Service was good, but not outstanding. The supervisor had to come and begin the ordering process because we weren't getting served. I had one of their "simply Fish" selections and it was good, but again not outstanding. We will give them another try sometime in the future, but after this recent experience I missed Flying Fish.

I would disagree that Shula's is significantly better than Yachtsman. It is WAY more expensive and while there was quite a "show" to present the meat it we didn't even get what we ordered. It was good but not worth the price - the Yachtsman steak was much more in line with their pricing.

It is not more expensive. If anything Yachtsman's is more expensive.

Unless you're just having a salad at Shula's, Shula's is without a doubt more expensive than Yachtsman.

Did you look at the prices? 12 oz.NY Strip: 42 at Yachtsman's, 16 oz NY Strip 38 at Shula's! ... Same prices with rib eye. Yachtsman's filet is slightly cheaper. It is true that Shula's is ala carte but a family of four sharing a couple of family sides is still going to be cheaper or on a par. Enough of the Shula's is so expensive stuff.

I absolutely agree. I don't understand how people say Shula's is more expensive than Yachtsman. I'd give Shula's the slight edge, but at worst they are about equal. Appetizers at Yachtsman range from $9-16. With the exception of the lobster, that is the same range at Shula's. You can't get prime rib at Yachtsman so I would end up with the $43 rib eye rather than the 32oz $39 prime rib at Shula's. Yes, sides are extra but they are sized to share. I usually don't need a side after an appetizer and excellent prime rib. Dessert pricing is also about on par at each location.

My dinner at Yachtsman would be $13 for tomato salad, $43 for the 16oz rib eye and I would split the Vahlrona chocolate for $5.50 = $61.50

At Shula's I would get french onion soup for $10, 32oz prime rib for $39, and split the lava cake for $5.50 = $54.50

Even getting the cowboy steak which is a dollar more and sharing a side, it's still a few dollars cheaper than Yachtsman and I know I will have a better meal.

We have never had a bad meal or bad service at Shula's, however service at Yachtsman was hit or miss. Most meals at Yachtsman were okay but not amazing, with the exception of some wonderful Wagyu we have a few years ago. My Shula's prime rib has always been perfectly prepared and easily the best I have all year.

Shula's IS better than Yachtsnman and Blue Zoo IS better than FF. Not that YSH and FF are bad--far from it. But Shula's has better steak and Blue Zoo has better seafood.

over Yachtsman and FF.

Shula's steaks are of a far higher quality and costs the same.

BlueZoo's food is phenomenal, in our opinion. I love the chef's tasting menu.

Also, to help with cost, both restaurants participate in restaurant.com, where you can get certificate for $25 for under $2 when they have 80% discounts.

Also, both are on the TIW plan. 20% off pays for the tip.

We have both places booked twice for our upcoming Summer vacation. :thumbsup2
