We were thoroughly unimpressed with our shrimp cocktail at Coral Reef last week. Trays and trays of shrimp cocktail came out of the kitchen. I think lots of DDP diners order it as an appetizer. Well, it was served in a martini glass glass. At the bottom was some of the cheapest tasting cocktail sauce I have ever tasted. No amount of lemon improved it! Then, five semi-cool shrimp were simply thrown on top of the cocktail sauce--not chilled, just coolish. Not placed around the rim of the glass, thrown into it in a heap. It was not a good meal at all! My advice, for what it's worth, is stay away! I'm sure you can find better shrimp cocktail elsewhere. Hopefully other DISers can help!
in the 'UK ' shrimp (prawn) cocktail consists of tiny shrimp (prawns) in a sauce mixed of mayonnaise, tomato ketchup and a dash of lemon juice. Its more the sauce than the shrimp that make up this dish which for us is served in a cocktail glass aka martini glass with iceberg shredded lettuce.
