I (43 year old mom), son (18 year old), and grandma (young 67 year old) going to DL/DCA for the first time in April. What shows or movies do you recommend not missing in DCA? I saw the following in my trusty guide book and wondered which ones we should make sure we see this trip: Aladdin, Golden Dreams, Mission Tortilla, Disney Animation, The Bakery Tour, Bountiful Farm, Magic of Brother Bear, and don't know what I else. Any of these you love, don't care about, whatever?

Thank you, Thank you........

Disney Animation is very fun and interactive...and although I have never seen Aladdin I hear that it is a very good show, not to be missed!! I plan on seeing it next time I go!! I haven't seen the others.

Have fun :thumbsup2

I thought that Golden Dreams was a lovely picture about california - no one else was in the theater when we saw it though - I would see it, just cause it's going away soon!

Alladin is AWESOME!

... Disney Animation ...

At Disney Animation, be sure to see Turtle Talk w/ Crush. The show has real-time animation, and it's fun to see Crush (the turtle from Finding Nemo) talk with the audience. Even though the questions are mostly from children, grown ups will enjoy it, too. It's a 15 minute show, and it's very cute. :earsboy:

Aladdin is truly not to be missed. A real treat. The genie ad libs and so every show is a little different.

TTWC is the only realy "show" at the Animation Studios. We love the studios. You should plan to spend some time there. TTWC is the same as at Epcot but still always good for a laugh. There are other things at the animation studios that the young at heart will enjoy.

Not sure if the DEP - Disney Electrical Parade is running in April. It is seasonal but worth seeing. Golden Dreams gets a bad rap IMO. I would not put it #1 on my list but it is worth seeing at least once.

May I ask what exactly are you chatting about? yes I'm green but still smiling

ahhh thanks -- will have to peruse that for a bit
Lots of abbreviations are tossed around here. Hard for a newbie but faster for frequent users. If you look at the list of threads there is a "sticky thread" always visible that gives definitions for most of them. Here is a link but you can always find it in the sticky thread area.

Gosh, hate to ask this, but I couldn't help but notice no one raved about the tortilla or bakery tours? Would one of you experts mind giving me an opinioin of the tours? Including how long they last and whether or not they are worth spending precious disney time, oh and is there any wait to go on the tour (is it scheduled times only or just walk up, walk through)?? We have them on our list to do, but I just don't know. Might be interesting to see how tortillas are made :confused3 Might be more interesting to see how many times I can ride screamin' without puking :rotfl2:

I'd skip Brother Bear, if I wear you. It is mored geared towards the younger (preschool type) ages. If you have the time to do everything, then definitely do it all, but if I had to choose between the Brother Bear thing and a ride, I'd definitely take the ride.

In the tortilla and bread tours, you get free samples. Great for a tiny snack if you need one. Each tour takes about 10 minutes or so, and there might be a small weight. (I've never waited longer than about 5 minutes). They're interesting, if you don't know anything about how tortillas or sourdough bread is made.

Thanks for the direction, and advice. I have looked at it, but seems every turn there is another one that boggles me.
Gotta admit you, and others on this fabolous DIS, are making the planning and nearing trip very very enjoable (and exciting) -- kudo's
impatiently waiting!

If I had one tour to choose, I would choose the tortilla tour.

With the tortilla tour you watch a silly little partly animated film about corn and the cultures where it was used initially. Then you're let in and you see the tortilla making equipment in action, and suddenly you're at the end and you get a freshly made Mission tortilla. It's very delicious.

The Bakery tour, however, offers you a piece of bread at the beginning, from a bag the CM has in her podium. The information is given to you in a semi-cute, very cloying, possibly obnoxious film done by Rosie O'Donnell and Colin from Drew Carey's Whose Line is it Anyway. So you move along, watching the big screens and watching the kitchen behind glass, seeing the bakers making the bread. And then you're done.

As others have said, plan on spending some time in Dinsey Animation. We always go to the Animation Academy to learn to draw a Disney character, and end up laughing at how bad we really are! That show and Turtle Talk start at thte same time, every half hour. There is also another room, where you can put your voice to different Disney animated moview, which is fun. so we usually spend about 90 minutes there in total.
We also love Aladdin, Golden Dreams, and the Miner 49ers. For shows, don't forget the Muppets and Tough to be a Bug. Both are 3-D movies that are very well done.
If you have time, do the two food tours. Pretty interesting and you get a yummy snack!
We've never seen Brother Bear, and I'm not sure if there is much happening in the farm area these days.

I am still getting grief from my husband over the 45 minutes he spent in Aladdin that he will never get back. It was dreadful.

The Boudin bakery and Mission tortilla tours are fun. My boys like It's Hard To Be A Bug, while I can take it or leave it. We did Golden Dreams which I consider worth doing once but feel no need to do repeatedly.

Does anyone know--- does Aladdin play daily? It is listed under entertainment but I don't see it listed on the actual calender, for times. I'd hate to miss it, we'll be there on 3/10 & 3/11 (mon & tues).

tkitty, unless things have changed, i have some not good news for you. Aladdin show in DCA takes Mon. & Tues off. (on our last trip we included a Sunday so we could enjoy Aladdin & the wonderful fireworks). Maybe you should add Sunday too? :thumbsup2

Hope it works out.

TTBAB Great Show and fun
Tortillas are always a must do but it could be that I love the warm fresh tortillas and the MESACA!!! The bread one I say get your sample, watch the first bit and if you are bored walk on. I like watching the bakers and seeing the bread roller coaster ;) more then the video hehe! Either way its free bread and they don't make you stay past the first video.

The animation building is a must, Turtle Talk and the room where they have you draw characters is blast!! Also spend a few minutes to watch the toy story thing and find out what charecter you are!

Golden Dreams is fine, I did it once (bad since I got monthly), if there is time to do it then go other wise move on, Muppets I remember being fun but I haven't done it in a while. And I thought Aladin was really great!

I think DCA's strenght is the great shows. I have to say as a wine lover I really like Season of the Wine but I am a geek like that :)
