Showing up to a reservation for 3 with 4 people?

Hello everyone! I have a reservation at Chefs de France in October for dinner. I made it for 3 people but now my dining party is 4 people. I tried changing the reservation to 4 people but there is nothing available. I'm assuming it won't be a huge issue because a table for 3 is likely to be a table for 4. Do you guys think I will be turned away if I show up with 4 people? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

This question comes up regularly, pretty much every week. You can ask when you check in, they may allow it & they may not. I use the online check in, some restaurants say we could add another guest, some say you can’t. Chefs of France is often fully booked so they may not be able to accommodate extra people. And you won’t be turned away. They will seat 3 of you no matter what. And if you choose to walk away if they say no, you may be charged the $10 a person no show fee. So have a plan what you’ll do if they say no. Definitely keep looking for the spot for 4, you have plenty of time. Many times people cancel the night before as their plans change, so you might even get something last minute.

You can even look for a party of 1 or 2 at or near the same time & ask to be seated together, or close together. Many restaurants have limited tables for 2, but Chefs has quite a few, many are close together too.

I see that some people on this thread say the online check-in gives you an option to add a person to the reservation. Do you know if this comes up always?

No, it doesn’t always say you can. It very much depends on the restaurant & it’s occupancy. The check in screen tells you how many people your ADR is for & then says “you may add up to___ additional guests.” It sometimes says “1” & it sometimes says “0”. It really depends on what the restaurant can accommodate at the time.
