We have a family member in the military and they may be able to join us this year in Disney for a few days.

We have all our ADR's made including CRT for 7 people, having him come will make all our ADR's at 8 people.

The question is do I make new ADR's or leave them as they are and just show up with 8 instead of 7?

Thanks for your help:thumbsup2

I asked this on the reservation post but no answers.

We have a family member in the military that may be able to join us this year.

We have ADR's for 7 people and he would make 8.

We have ADR's for CRT and several more but I am mainly worried about CRT.

Should I try to change them or just show up with the extra from 7 to 8 people?

Thanks,
Michelle

You can try but I personally would not risk it. How disappointing to show up with 8 people for a nice meal at CRT and be turned away.

Our group size changed one year ( 2 months before arrival). I called and spoke to a great CM who worked it all out. A few days and times changed but it was fine. We went Easter week and did CRT and so on.

Do both.

That is, keep trying to find replacement reservations for 8 at, or close to your current times. You'll likely be able to make at least a few of them. For those you can't, just show up and explain the situation. Chances are you'll be fine.

A party of 7 and a party of 8 would likely be at the same sized table, which would make it less risky to just show up with the extra person (compared to, for example, going from 4 people to 5 people).

Agreed! And explain your situation and i'm sure they will do their best to accomdate you. I don't see an 8th person making a difference I'm sure they can squeeze another chair. But I would try and change them if not keep them so you can go on as planned. I think it may work out for you.:goodvibes

I think you will be fine. Most tables will seat 8, there might be the odd one that they have up against a poll or something.

CRT is one that you pay a no show fee for so I would not try and book for 8 as it will be a big pain if for some reason he doesn't come.

I have gone during Free Dining and we added at least one person to a few ADR's some of them we added 2 people. I tried to change them and some I could and then others there was no way. The last minute an extra person decided to come on the trip.

Have to share my personal experience. Last year we met up with my sister and her family of four and went to MK together. My kids and I had breakfast at Kona and planned on just doing a CS for dinner. They had ressies at Liberty Tree Tavern for 4 (there were 5 of us) so a total of 9. My BIL walked up and checked in as a party of 9 and they said - OK. That will be a few minutes. We were ALL seated together with no problem. I don't think this would be the case everywhere, but it's good to know it is possible. This was about two weeks into free dining and it was crowded.

So I guess I would have to say if it's just a possibility that you may have ONE more person, don't change anything. You are already a big party anyway. The only problem would be a dinner show or a signature restaurant.

With your particular situation, I wouldn't think going from 7 to 8 would be a problem just because you would most likely have been seated at a table for 8 anyway.

HOWEVER, I would call Disney Dining and see if they can officially up your party size for your current reservation numbers. I'd really try to do it officially so you don't have to worry about it.

If you just can't make the switch, I'd chance it by showing up with your one extra.

Thank You all for your replies:love:

I think what I will do is wait a bit more to see if he can come for sure and then call Disney and see what if any thing they can do.

I will not give up CRT!!! I checked several days now for some thing different and can't get any thing so that is one that I will just show up with the extra:scared1: We have it before MNSSHP on Sept. 21 at a perfect time for us.

Thanks again all:thumbsup2

I would try to change it, but still try walking up also. We had it happen at O'Hanas this year when our teens decided they wanted to go at the last minute. We got there early to see if they could do anything. They added it and just said it may take a few more minutes, but that was it. If they had said no, we would have just sent the kids somewhere else since I didn't want to miss it.

We are having the same situation but going from an even 6 to an uneven 7 - my brother decided to join us :yay: He hasn't been since he and I went as kids so we are very excited to have him along. However, I have been able to change ALL my ressies but two - and they are biggies :headache: We have Crystal Palace breakfast at 8 am and Ohana dinner at 5-ish and both are on the same day - a Sunday during free dining. I plan to keep checking every day and hope to add him eventually, if not we will have to figure something out. With those being pretty popular places I am nervous to just go with an extra. We have showed up with 2 extra at Le Cellier before and they were fine with it, just had to wait a few minutes more so it may be ok.....ARG :rotfl:

I think you can chance it. But if the restaurants are at full-capacity, they might not be able to go above the seating limits. Wouldn't it be nice if he can actually make the trip!!:grouphug:

Im sure they'd take a group of 8 that means a guaranteed gratuity doesn't it? Im sure everything will be find! I've had experience with 2 person reservations and adding on a 3rd and aside from 50's Prime Time Cafe everyone was so nice and accommodating (50s PT said absolutely not so we went to Guest Services and they were able to find us a reservation for 3 an hour after the original time. Guest Services was so nice at DHS!!!!)

Good luck and you have an awesome trip!
