As the title states, I am looking for hat ideas to keep some of the sun from beating down on my head in June. I am not a hat person and I dislike the heat and being hot even more. I am hoping to find a hat that is comfortable and can keep me cool!

I've been wearing Tilley hats of one shape or another for years (they have their own web site). I've got 3-4 on the shelf now. I like them because they have a wide enough brim to keep the sun off my face, ears, and neck. They're water resistant in the rain. The ones I have allow for ventilation in the crown. And best of all, they're crushable, so I can cram it in my bag for coasters and wet rides. They're a bit spendy, but last forever.

I always wear a baseball cap. I find they are the easiest to wear with my hair pulled up into a ponytail, since my hair can go through the opening in the back. I rarely take it off for rides, but for the coasters I do tend to take it off and either put it in the pocket of the car, in my bag, or just sit on it.

I like a bucket hat. Unfortunately they must not be very popular because I always look for a new one on vacation and have never been successful. The one I always wear is from an amusement park in Hot Springs, Arkansas from 15 years ago. I even swim in it because my scalp sunburns. I like that it protects my ears but isn't bulky with a really wide brim.

Try etsy for your bucket hat. I just ordered two for my girls that have an opening for their ponytails. The girl let use pick our own colors and I had them in about a week. Her store was PurelyInspired361.

I tend to take 3 hats with me to Florida, whether to WDW or the beach. I usually take 1 wide brim straw hat, 1 ball cap style, and a bucket hat. I tend to rotate them based on the day. For a day Epcot or AK, I am more likely to wear the wide brim since there are less times I would have to take it off for a ride. For DHS or MK, especially if I plan to ride most of the thrill rides those days, I tend to go with a ball cap or bucket as they are small if I need to take them off for a ride.

A UV umbrella will do the job, too.

I have a roll up straw hat. They pack much better that a traditional floppy in my opinion and you can find them on amazon in a variety of colors/styles for under $20!

I'm normally a straw trilby-style hat person for summer hols (quite cool because they're not close weave and can withstand a suprising amount of being bashed and squished in my bags, so long as you're not precious about keeping it pristine). But have gone for a baseball (well trucker, but basically baseball) cap for this trip as tighter fit to head so easier to rush about. Managed to find a pretty floral one from Bonts. This said, I have a tiny pinhead, I think most could find a well fitting straw hat!
