Show Me Your Smolder! October 2012 B-Day TR NEW 4/1 Trip Wrap Up & NEW PTR LINK!

Sounds like a great last morning at WDW so far! Those pics at Pete's Silly Sideshow are super cute! I loved that character M&G...it was themed so cute.

First family of the day on IASW...what a fun little memory!

We did have a really great last morning. Being first family on IASW was a really magical little moment, even if it was a little silly. :thumbsup2 And we loved Pete's Silly Sideshow too! The only thing that I didn't like was the two lines for the different characters instead of being able to see them all after standing in one line. But I love the themeing of the M&G area and their costumes! So cute!

Still LOLing at him wanting Minnie's balls lol.

Oh and thanks for letting us know to call t-Rex directly, DH just did that and got the perfect time within 30 seconds!

Hey, being the first family to ride ANYTHING is pretty awesome! Hahaha, I love IASW so that's a pretty awesome experience for you guys!

Those photos of Paxton are so so cute, with Daisy and Minnie. It's just too adorable. I love your photos and videos of him because they're always him just being super cute. :goodvibes

It is my goal to spend more time over in Storybook Circus next trip! We didn't even get inside any of the tents over in that area. :( But we will next trip! It looks amazing!

It was really funny at the time, and I was laughing as I typed it into my trip notes on my phone!

Awesome! I'm so glad it worked out for you. :thumbsup2

I think the CM was even more excited than we were, but it was still a pretty cool experience!

Aww, thank you so much! Of course I think he is super cute, but it's always such a nice compliment that other people think so too. :goodvibes He is all about some Daisy and Minnie right now too for some reason, so I'm wondering if he will still be their biggest fan come October.

We really loved checking out Storybook Circus, and it's easy to do when you are attached to a toddler. :lmao: Hopefully you do get to spend more time there, because Disney really went all out on the details in that area. When are you going again?

Day 9 Continued: Sunday October 28th

After hanging out with Daisy and Minnie at Pete's Silly Sideshow, we headed over to Tomorrowland and walked right onto Buzz Lightyear.

4086_Copy.jpg

DS sat in my lap, so I let him steer and shoot my gun. He probably scored better than I would have if I had played. I am seriously terrible at that game! How does ANYONE know which blinking red light is theirs?!

4087.jpg

There really wasn't anything else we wanted to do in Tomorrowland once we came out of Buzz, so we headed across the bridge towards the Hub and stopped for what would be our very last Photopass photos of the trip! *tear* And of course, DS was not interested in cooperating, but it came out decent enough, I guess.

4091.jpg

Mickey & Minnie topiaries!

We crossed the Hub to Adventureland for a ride on the Jungle Cruise!

4093.jpg

This is by no means my favorite ride, but I was pretty surprised that we had been in WDW for over a week and were only just now riding JC on our very last day. It is one of those attractions we just HAVE to do, even though we know the jokes by heart by now. Luckily, we had a great skipper this time around, and he made sure to tease us and the family beside us since we were all wearing Saints shirts, and our skipper was from Colorado...The game that day was the Saints vs. the Broncos!

4094.jpg

4095.jpg

Backside of water!

4101.jpg

4102_Copy.jpg

After a fun ride on the Jungle Cruise, we started in the direction of Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't remember how it happened, but I know as we were walking, DS hit the ground HARD. He didn't get his hands out quick enough and his chest hit the pavement. After a bit of consoling, he seemed to be okay, so we continued on to Pirates. This is apparently the only photographic evidence I have that this is what we did next.

4106.jpg

He did better this time around, and he was more prepared for the drop because as the boat started jerking on its ascent, he grabbed on to me as tight as he could. After that, he was okay for the rest of the ride. Hopefully this year I will remember to warn him and keep him from freaking out the first time we ride it!

Once done on Pirates, we decided to hit up another attraction we have never done (never felt the need to do), the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Mostly because it was right there and there was no line. There was a ride already in progress when we entered the line, and we made it onto the next ride cycle. Once we sat down and strapped in, not only did we realize DS had a dirty diaper, but he also had blood on his chin! Apparently when he had gone down, he had hit his chin on the ground too, but neither one of us noticed as we were checking his hands and knees for cuts and scrapes. Boy, did I feel like the world's worst mom after that! But we still enjoyed our ride on the Magic Carpets.

4113.jpg

After the ride, we hit the restroom so I could change his diaper and clean up his chin with a little soap and water. I have in my notes that we walked on to Haunted Mansion next, and we must have skipped the graveyard queue because I have no photos of this. We were about ready for lunch, so we made our way across the bridge from Liberty Square and made it to the hub to see the Move It Shake It Celebrate It parade again.

4118.jpg

4121.jpg

4122.jpg

One of the dancers in the parade noticed ours Saints shirts and gave us a thumbs up and said, "Louisiana all the way!" Wonder which next of the LA woods he is from? But the parade moved on and we were still hungry, so took a second to figure out what we wanted to eat. Well, since DS only wants hot dogs, why not head over to Casey's? We have actually NEVER eaten there! Well, at least I had never, maybe DH did on one of his trips before we started going together.

The seating area was crowded, so I took DS across Main Street to the seating in front of the Plaza and got us a table while DH went inside to get hot dogs and fries for all three of us. The best thing about getting hot dogs for DS to eat is that even if he doesn't finish while DH and I are still eating (he is a SLOW eater!), it's something that is easily transportable! So the pieces he didn't finish before DH and I were done, we took with us one of his snack containers for him to snack on as we walked.

While I was getting DS cleaned up from lunch, DH ran up the street to pick up more SotMK cards. When he met back up with us and we started walking, DS crashed in the stroller. So, we took our cards and walked over to Frontierland to do a mission there.

Day 9 Continued: Sunday October 28th

We took our time completing the SotMK mission in Frontierland, mostly because there were short waits at all of the portals. By the time we finished up the last portal, 40 minutes had passed since DS had fallen asleep in the stroller and he woke up. 40-45 minutes was his max for stroller napping!

I got the silly idea that maybe we could head over to Tomorrowland and take a spin on the TTA to help him go back to sleep. But instead, we just enjoyed another ride on the TTA with a fully awake and recharged DS. :thumbsup2

4131.jpg

While we are embarking on slow, relaxing journeys, why not take a circle tour on the Disney World Railroad? So after TTA we headed over to Storybook Circus to catch the train from there.

4137.jpg

4138.jpg

4139.jpg

4141.jpg

4144.jpg

When we disembarked the train back in Storybook Circus, it was time to use our Peter Pan FP's! We enjoyed one last trip to Neverland, and when we came off, DS was pointing at IASW and yelling for the boat. How can we deny him? So one last trip on the happiest cruise that ever sailed for us! I guess DH was tired of taking pictures on it, so this was the only one he took.

4145.jpg

But then as we were coming off of the boat, it was 2:15 pm and the clock opened!

4146.jpg

It was getting close to time for us to be heading out of the park. :( But we still had time for one more delicious Disney snack! So we stopped at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and got a Plaza Sundae - Old fashioned vanilla with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry served in a freshly made waffle bowl.

4148.jpg

After eating every last bite of the Sundae, and one last trip through the Emporium, it was time to go. The parade was starting, so we got to hear the strains of Celebrate a Dream Come True as we stopped for our last photo in the Magic Kingdom!

4151_Copy.jpg

See ya real, soon, Magic Kingdom!

We boarded the Express Monorail (which just so happened to be the Avengerail!) to the TTC.

4152.jpg

At the TTC, I wanted to stop and use the restroom before we got in the car because we were not just heading back to Bonnet Creek and I wasn't sure how long it would take us to get to our hotel for the night. As we were walking, a lady went zooming by us on her ECV yelling for someone named Bob to wait up. Well, DS, ever the little parrot, stuck his head out the stroller to look at the woman as she drove off and yelled, "Bob!" Oh my gosh, maybe it was a you-had-to-be-there moment, but it was one of the funniest things ever! I still laugh every time I think of that moment, and he even got some laughs over a couple of people who overheard him.

I went in to change his diaper, and the diaper change station is one huge one that at least two kids can fit on comfortably, only there was a woman in there changing her two daughters into princess outfits with her whole life spread out on the changing table. Luckily, she was nice enough to realize how ridiculous that was and moved most of it so I could use the other side!

As we walked to our car, we spotted this beauty in the lot.

4154.jpg

4156.jpg

It was about 3:45 by the time we got to the car, and it was a 30 minute drive or so to the Ramada Suites near the Orlando Airport. DS crashed in the car, so once we arrived I stayed in the car with him while DH went inside to check us in and then came back to load the luggage onto a cart.

4157.jpg

That night was kind of uneventful, except that we tried to go to church at 5 pm at a nearby Catholic church and ended up having to leave halfway through because DS was hysterically crying and inconsolable. We even tried sitting him in the corner of the outer area of the church with the iPad so he could watch Thomas and it just wasn't cutting it, so we decided to leave. We stopped for some Five Guys for dinner and brought it back to the Ramada to eat. We took out what we needed for the night, and then while I bathed DS, DH took the car to fill it up with gas so that was one less thing we had to do in the morning.

I guess 2 short naps had given DS TONS of energy though, because he was bouncing around that hotel room like he was a pinball in a machine trying to rack up a high score! We settled him down by reading some books and putting him down to sleep in his pack & play really early. DH and I laid down ourselves and tried to watch some of the Saints game that started at 8 that night, but we were both SO tired we were asleep by the end of the 1st quarter. That's okay though, we had an EARLY wake up time!

Day 10: Monday October 29th

So this day didn't really need its own post, but for continuity sake I though I would include our journey home really quickly.

We decided to do something different this trip. Usually, we book a late flight home on our last day so that we can enjoy the morning and early afternoon in the parks before heading to the airport in the late afternoon. However, it turned out to be cheaper to just fly out early the next morning instead. So we had the whole day in the parks Sunday, and Monday morning became departure day.

This sounded like a great idea in theory...until our alarm clock went off at 4:35 am. Then I was wondering why the heck I thought this was so wonderful?! We packed up the toiletries and got dressed, then realized we had probably overestimated how much time we needed, so we sat around and let DS sleep a little more before we had to get him up and changed.

Breakfast at the hotel was not set to start until 6 am, but even though we got down there around 5:30 or so, there were at least some pastries and juice out, so we had a quick breakfast before loading up the car and heading to the airport.

In no time at all, we had returned the rental car and checked our bags.

4158.jpg

The security lines were really short that morning, so we got through quickly, except that I had to have my bag searched and got a quick reprimand from the TSA agent because I had left the diaper cream in my carry on. :confused3 It had been in there for every other flight I have ever taken with DS and never had a problem. Not sure if the TSA was wrong this time or I have been getting away with it all this time, but now I know better, I guess.

We found our gate and had plenty of time to spare before the flight, which gave DS some time to run around and burn off some energy, and boy did he!

4159.jpg

Side note, I had been so excited to get him that shirt at Target before the trip, and was so excited for him to wear it in Disney, but the first day that it was actually cold enough for long sleeves was the day we were leaving!

When we boarded, we chose a seat in the last row so no one would be behind us to wake DS up, who promptly fell asleep when the plane took off. Oh, except that flight attendant who was talking ridiculously loud, he woke DS up. :furious: But DS was good for the flight and watched movies on the iPad until we landed.

My dad had dropped our truck off at the airport for us the day before, and after a little trouble locating it in the garage, we headed to my mom's to pick up Belle (and put her straight into the back of the truck instead of even attempting to put her in the back seat again!), and headed home.

And that's the end!

I'll have a wrap up post and probably post the link to a new PTR early next week! Thanks for everyone who read along and took the time to comment, I really appreciate all of you and I hope you will join us on our next adventure!

I am seriously terrible at that game! How does ANYONE know which blinking red light is theirs?!
You don't. Just point the gun in the general direction of targets and keep pulling the trigger until the number gets bigger. :thumbsup2

But we still enjoyed our ride on the Magic Carpets.
How did the carpet downwind feel about the ride? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

The seating area was crowded, so I took DS across Main Street to the seating in front of the Plaza and got us a table
:headache: Why didn't I think of that????

Great idea! :thumbsup2

We have the same issue. Anything that can be eaten as a finger food is a must because we almost always have to take DS's food and let him eat it whenever he finally decides he's ready to eat.

Now that is a very good detour to be making on the way out. Makes the pain of leaving a little bit better.

Well, at least you were able to find a way to calm him down. He could have been up and bouncing around until 2 am. Not that we've ever had that happen before. :rolleyes1

Mmmmm....sadly coming to the end of another of your TRs...but remember the next trip is now closer than the last one!

Awww, your last day in MK seemed really wonderful! Matt is really interested in checking out that Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom at some point. Is it pretty fun? I was thinking we might check it out this next trip if we are looking for something new to do!

I was laughing over here pretty hard at the BOB?! thing, hahaha. I can just picture him popping his head out with this confused look screaming for Bob. :rotfl:

I can't wait to hear about your next trip! You guys will be there a little later than us but I'm sure it's going to be a wonderful trip! Depending on how this September trip goes, I'd be interested in going in October some year! Then again, I'd love to go to Disney any time of the year, as long as it's not insanely busy. :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure with us. :goodvibes

That's what I do, and I still score terribly!!! :rotfl:

How did the carpet downwind feel about the ride? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I ran off in shame before I could ask them or overhear their comments.:lmao:

:headache: Why didn't I think of that????

Great idea! :thumbsup2

Save it for your next trip. :thumbsup2 Just don't do it during MiSiCi like we did, because DH had a hard time getting across the street with all the food. :rotfl:

We have the same issue. Anything that can be eaten as a finger food is a must because we almost always have to take DS's food and let him eat it whenever he finally decides he's ready to eat.

It was definitely the easiest way to go while we were there. Thankfully he was on a hot dog kick and they were easy to take along.

Now that is a very good detour to be making on the way out. Makes the pain of leaving a little bit better.

:thumbsup2 Can't go wrong with Plaza ice cream!!

Well, at least you were able to find a way to calm him down. He could have been up and bouncing around until 2 am. Not that we've ever had that happen before. :rolleyes1

:faint: Oh Lord, I'm so happy to say I have not had that experience YET.

Mmmmm....sadly coming to the end of another of your TRs...but remember the next trip is now closer than the last one!

I know, I am a little sad that this TR is now over, but I'm really excited to start my PTR! Just a little more than 6 months away now!!

It was a pretty close to perfect last day, except for the busted chin and the whole "leaving WDW" thing. ;)

SotMK is pretty fun! I bet it is more fun when you can play uninterrupted though. Just as we would be getting started most times, DS would wake up. And he was not content to just sit there and let us play, either. But yeah, it's a fun way to find little nooks and crannies around MK you might have missed otherwise.

Oh my gosh, it was so funny! It still makes me laugh remembering it. I wonder if ECV lady ever caught up with Bob?!

I'm with you, I will pretty much go to Disney anytime that isn't July or Christmas week! :lmao: Now that I have spent my anniversary and Paxton's birthday there in the month of October, it's definitely my favorite time of year now because it holds so many special memories. Christmas time is a close second! I hope y'all enjoy your September trip!

Thanks for following along, Dani!

Oh yeah, I just started following you on Instagram too! I'm disneymom1024 on there. :) I just joined a couple of weeks ago.

I've been to Disney 5 times and never rode Jungle Cruise.. or TTA, or the train! Where can you get on/off the train in Frontierland? I don't know why I've never seen it, I'm thinking it's there by Splash? I'm glad you found something for Paxton to eat all week even if it was hot dogs. We ate at Casey's once but there is never anywhere to sit, I think that is why we haven't been back. I guess you could've skipped the last entry and said "and then we went home the end" but that would've been anti-climatic LOL. So sad to see this TR end up excited you have another trip in the works. Paxton is so lucky to get to be in Disney every year for his birthday!

Sounds like a pretty perfect last day at MK ;)

I'm so sad your TR is over, but cant wait to hear your plans for your Oct trip.

What a lovely last day in the MK. And what a great last snack to end your trip. Sounds like Paxton was either sleeping or bouncing off the walls that day.

Last days are always hard, but you definitely made the most of it. I really admire you guys for looking for a church to go to Saturday night. Too bad Paxton was not up for it.

I usually love to fly out late in the afternoon or early evening, but sometimes I think its good to switch it up a bit.

I really enjoyed your TR, seeing Paxton's cute face, and seeing your DH's wonderful pics. Looking forward to hearing about your future plans.

Great TR! Really enjoyed following along. Looking forward to your next trip! You 180 day mark must be coming up soon!

Thanks for following & commenting! Still have a few weeks until that 180 day mark, and thank goodness because I am still so wishy-washy on my plans for right now! :rotfl:

When you take Gavin, I'm almost positive you will at LEAST ride the TTA, and probably the train too! We are so much more into those slow, relaxing, easy to get on rides now that we are taking Paxton with us! We never used to ride them either. Too busy running between the three mountains! :rotfl: Yes, the train station in Frontierland is next to Splash Mountain. :thumbsup2

We have been so blessed to be able to take him for his birthday 3 years in a row! Skipping Disney next year (), but hopefully will be back in 2015 after that!

Sounds like a pretty perfect last day at MK ;)

It really was as close to perfect as we could get, I think. :goodvibes I really loved that we didn't have to rush off to the airport for a change and could enjoy the park at our own pace.

Thanks!

Ice cream from the Plaza is definitely the way to cap off a fantastic Disney trip! :goodvibes By the end of a long Disney week, I don't blame him for being a little frenetic when he wasn't sleeping. :rotfl: It was frustrating in the moment though!!

We always make sure to plan in time for church on any vacations we take, but for some reason it was just not working out for us this trip! I felt so guilty. :( But in this instance, there was just no point in staying. We were spending more time trying to get Paxton to cooperate that we weren't able to pay attention to a single word of the mass! And he was SO LOUD, I really hated that we were taking away from other people's experience because he was crying so loud.

In this case, it was definitely good to switch it up to a morning flight. I never like feeling pressed for time on our last day!

Thanks for following & commenting, Mary Ellen! I look forward to seeing you on the next TR. :goodvibes

The last day in Disney is always a sad day. You are always on a mission to fit everything in.
First family of the day on Its a small world! thats to funny!
Buzz Lightyear, I try to pretend I am good at the game yet I have no clue where I am aiming. One day I will max it out!
I thought I was the only one who never ate at caseys! Thank god I tried it this past time.
Leaving the park for the last time on the trip is one of the saddest moments.

What a wonderful TR I enjoyed reading it!!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one on Buzz Lightyear!! I keep seeing posts of people maxing out, and I'm convinced it must be a ride malfunction, because I can't believe anyone actually knows where they are shooting to rack up points! :lmao:

We were pleasantly surprised by Casey's this trip. I think we will end up eating there on future trips!

Glad you enjoyed the TR & thanks for following & commenting, Sam!!

It was so fun recapping another fantastic Disney World TR with all of you, but sadly it must come to an end. But don't despair, the next trip is already in the works, and I would love it if you chose to follow along with our plans! Before getting to that, I thought I'd cap off with a few of our final thoughts from this trip.

1. CROWDS
Overall, there are no complaints about the crowd levels while we were visiting. Part of it is probably that we spent a lot more time with the minor attractions than usual, so we weren't following the typical path of a Disney World visitor. The only real time we found it almost unbearably crowded was a time when it was totally expected, the one night we decided to visit Magic Kingdom to see MSEP and Wishes. When you go during a time of year with hard ticket parties, you can definitely count on those nights being packed! Otherwise, we didn't wait long for anything, which is a plus when traveling with a toddler.

2. WEATHER
The weather was pretty close to perfect! There were a couple times when it started getting a little too hot in the sun, but thankfully there was little to no humidity, so it was much more bearable than the summer heat. We thought the end of the week was going to be a washout from Hurricane Sandy, but we only experienced one afternoon rainstorm while we were there, so no complaints there. I guess the only thing I can complain about was that I had packed a few long sleeved shirts hoping for some cooler days mixed in, but the day the temperature dropped was the day we were leaving!

3. TAKING A 2 YEAR OLD
Absolutely the best part about this trip was being able to celebrate DS's 2nd birthday in our favorite place, the Magic Kingdom! Spending the whole day doing only the attractions he could ride and doing several character meets was absolutely the most perfect way to spend his birthday. However, there were plenty of moments where he acted every bit a two year old. :lmao: Was it frustrating? Of course. But I would still do it again in a heartbeat. He was actually very well behaved for a toddler, and we avoided any major meltdowns, only a few minor ones. ;)

4. NEW EXPERIENCES
One thing I love about Disney World as a destination is that you can experience something new and different every single time you go! For me, my favorite new experience was seeing my most favorite band Hanson at the Food & Wine Festival Eat With the Beat concerts two nights in a row! For me, that was the ultimate combination of two of my most favorite things, and I got to share it with my family, which made it even better for me. Another new thing was trying more of the stage shows with DS now that his attention span is longer. Seeing him light up seeing Disney Jr. Live on Stage for the first time was such a great moment! Also, now that he is older, he can interact more with the characters. There is nothing like seeing him run up to give Mickey or Goofy or even Baloo a huge hug! Expanding our character meets to include princesses was fantastic too. He had such an amazing meet with Rapunzel, I don't think I will ever forget that. :lovestruc Seeing some of the parades for the first time (MK & AK afternoon parades) or just for the first time with DS (MSEP) was another fantastic and new experience. He loved waving to the characters, and giving some high 5's or even kisses (thanks, Snow White), and luckily he did not cry because they were not throwing doubloons & beads at those kinds of parades. :rotfl: And last but not least, Characterpalooza! Absolutely love all of the information you can find out on the DIS to even know such a thing existed and be able to take part in it. One of our favorite things to do with DS in WDW is meet characters, so this was the perfect event for us!

Anyway, I guess this is officially the end! BUT!! Don't cry just yet. We are going back to Disney World again, in just a little more than 6 months! And there's still lots of planning to do between now and then. :goodvibes So if you'd like to follow along with them, or if you just want a placeholder until the next TR, follow the link to my NEW PTR!
