Should you call Visa??

I had my mc refused at No Frills (very embarasing) after a trip to Florida. I always call now.

That's why I love my Amex. Their system seems to be intelligent with regard to this. When I charge a flight and/or hotel, my statement shows the passenger (me) the dates and the destination along with the airline/hotel. I also get an email a few days later asking if I want to purchase any additional travel insurances.

No need for me to call, the details of my travels are already in their system and I've never had my card questioned or refused.

If you're travelling on points and haven't charged a flight or hotel through your card, it certainly can't hurt to give a quick call.

Oh yes you should call always when you travel to notify your CC that you intend to be out of country.:thumbsup2

The last time I called I merrily announced I was taking my card on vacation and it cracked the customer service rep up....he said "you aren't excited or anything are you?" :rotfl:

I hope your card had a great vacation and didn't get too sunburnt!:rotfl:

We called before leaving on our last trip just in case.
We were also going on a 3 night cruise that went to the Bahamas too, so I thought that might trigger something if being in the US didn't.

We never had any problems after calling.

Adding to the call VISA group. My card was declined my first night at Downtown Disney. I was glad they had me talk to someone at VISA right then because the next morning we left for DCL. I would not have been happy if my card was declined when I had to check in with and put $500 on the card.

Better safe than sorry. I didn't used to call but now I do.

It's a real pain to have your card locked up. I know from experience -- it happened when I charged some of the expenses for my wedding. I got married in Alberta, but I lived in Ontario. AmEx got all freaked out and we had to use other cards and cash to buy gas and food driving home after the wedding. :(

Yup we call. DH works for Mastercard so we make sure. Its just safer to know that its not going to be frozen.
