Should we skip kilimanjaro Safari if we do Savor the Savanna?

I'm planning on booking Savor the Savanna which I know includes a short tour of the safari area. Should I still plan on riding Kilimanjaro Safaris on my trip or will it be redundant? Do you see the same animals with Savor the Savana (or at least the most important ones: lions, hippos, elephants, and giraffes). We have time to do either that or walk through Gorilla Falls, not both, so I'm inclined to favor the Gorilla Falls trail but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

We did the Savor this past April. Loved it. You do the whole tour and regular track, but do go off tour at some points for more in depth talks. Its a different truck you ride in and you do stop for a meal and drinks. Know its longer than regular safari because of this. So I would do the Gorillas tour before or after it.

This is what I needed to know. Thank you!!

I did the special event long long ago at AKl and really enjoyed it. If I could, I would do Savor the Savanna and do Kilimanjaro Safaris twice, yep, twice. Once in the morning and once around dusk. Especially since I have been hearing lately that the animals have been particularly active.

Have a great trip!

If you wait later in the day to do the safari's the wait time is usually really low to walk-on. I don't know why but most people seem to go for the safari's early in the day.

We planned to do both but our 60 day window just came up yesterday. there is no availability for Savor the Savanna tour the entire 5 days we are there. There is availability the day we leave. I will keep check ing back but feeling a bit discouraged. We have done Savor the Savanna in the past and loved it. You do see different things on the 2. Unfortunately

Wow, not available even 64 days out? That's disappointing. Didn't realize it was that popular some times of the year. Hope something opens up for you.....

Oh no! I thought this would be relatively easy to get. Wish me luck!!

If we skip Kilamanjaro Safari's do you know if we'll still get to see the lions, elephants, hippos and giraffes on Savor the Savanna? I just really like the Gorilla Falls trail so it's between doing that and doing Kilamanjaro Safaris. We won't have time for both.

For us we would skip KS, but we also haven't like it as much since they did away with the bounty hunter skit. It was corny but at least the ride was a lot more fun especially the chase. Glad we have old videos of our DDs on it during those times:D

Thanks :)

Yes, you see all those animals on Savor the Savanna - pending their cooperation. We saw all mentioned (and more), except it was a hot day and only one female lion was sleeping and partially visible. The rest had made themselves scarce.

There's no such thing as too much safari, imho. Every time one does it, it's different.

Disclaimer: I'm an animal lover, so I can do and have done the safari multiple times in the same day.
Same here! My record is 8 safaris in one day-and yes every time was different. Those 8 safaris includes the one where a giraffe came along and blocked our path for 20 minutes, and an animal keeper had to come out and encourage it to move.

AK is my favorite park, so I would adjust my plans and do all 3! And not do something someplace else.

Be sure to check KS operating hours. One trip we planned to do KS just before dusk (4:30ish in Jan) and we were too late as it closed at 4PM even though the park was open until 6 or 7PM.
