We are going to Disney in June, right after school lets out. However we were thinking about making this the "big" Christmas present. My DH and I can't decide - Should we wrap something or do something special under the tree or just have fewer presents and not tell her anything about the trip until we leave in June as a surprise? DD is 7 and was disapointed because three of her friends went to Disney this year and we could not go like we had planned last year - her little brother came along instead:rotfl:

I think that's a fantastic idea. We are bringing my 15 year old niece next year with us for her first trip ever, and that's what she'll be getting for her Christmas and birthday! (for the next 10years, :lmao: ) We've bought ber a guide and I'm going to get one of those nice people on the Disign board to make me up a plane ticket for her, and that'll be her gift. Why don't you do something similar for your daughter?

I'm in the UK so cant' do this, but I've read somewhere on here about getting a call from a Disney character on Christmas Day or B.Day etc., perhaps someone else will be kind enough to post how to do this, and you could arrange something similar for your DD? What a lucky girl, and what a brilliant gift - I would have loved that for Christmas as a child, I had to wait until I was 34 to get to WDW!!

Our January trip is a Christmas present and I am making a photobook for my kids. It will be a storybook about our previous trip and at the end I will write about their upcoming trip. My DD is also 7, so I am planning on having her read the book to DS4. I am also planning on making a countdown chain to go along with it. That might be too big for a trip in July, but maybe a calendar to follow would be good. That wait could be tough!

We also surprised them last year and did not tell them we were going until it was time to leave. That was also lots of fun and DS did not believe me that we were in WDW until he saw "Lella's Castle." Enjoy- surprises are the best.

We did the samething last year, however the kids did know we were going, just not that it was going to be their big Christmas gift. We wrapped up little things most of them free or cheap that related to the trip. We made up gift certificates that said good for so many days at Disney. We ordered the custom maps from Disney. We also bought them age appropriate guides to Disney World. Basically we got creative and made up things to wrap so there was something under the tree.

You could make it the "big" Christmas gift, but give DD7 items to make a scrapbook or autograph book. The kids could all get a couple t-shirts for the big Disney trip (they are $4.99 at the Disney store now), or you could get the items to make your own shirts together. It could be a "Disney Christmas".
