We will have a party of 10 (this includes 6 adults and 4 children ages 5, 5, 4 and 2) We are interested in dining at one of these locations. I have eaten at the 50's Diner before and enjoyed it but I do not remember any large tables there. I also wonder about the "cars" at the Sci Fi. I know there isn't one big enough for 10 but will they seat us side by side in two cars? What would you rate the food in both places? Which one will the kids like better? Thanks!!!!!:D

We were a party of 9 (7 adults & 2 kids), 50's PT had no problem seating us together. We had a great time!

I love them both, but voted for Sci Fi since you have not eaten there yet. I like the food better at 50's Primetime, but the whole atmosphere at Sci Fi I prefer.

You can't go wrong with either, IMHO!

I voted for Prime Time because I don't care for the food at Sci Fi, but i am curious how they seat a large party.

We had a party of five for dinner (who all sat quite comfortably in one car and believe me, we ain't small people!) in January. I must say that the food was not up to par (our worst meal for the whole trip and my step-dad had a fit over the bill (which began our nightmare trip with him, but that's another story)).

I had the Coca-Cola ribs (which since I'm from the south were a bit laughable) and a cookies and cream milkshake (which was to die for!). My step-dad had the steak and he said "it could line his shoes", but like I said, he's not the most pleasant of people. DBIL also had the ribs and he felt the same as me about them, DM also had the steak and she liked the seasoning on it but not the steak itself, and DS also had the steak and also gave it two thumbs down (although after three Red Lava drinks, she didn't really fuss too much). The neat thing about the drinks is they come with these "ice cubes" that are really plastic lights that glow. She still has hers and they do still glow!

I think the Sci-Fi is more of an "atmospheric" place than anything. I did a ton of message board reading before we left and most people agree that lunch is an OK meal to have there. But DM and I had already been to Brown Derby and we wanted to try something new. MGM is quite lacking on restaurants (which is a shame because it's my favorite park).

I do hope you get the seating arrangements you want because despite the so-so food, the atmosphere is amazing!!

We were at party of 7 with a PS at 2 pm at Sci Fi one day. After waiting 45 minutes, we gave up on sitting close together and were spead out in 3 cars. 2 were on completely different sides of the restaurant. Needless to say, we were not very happy about this. We did not care for the food, either.

We now go to 50's every time we got to MGM. We enjoy the food there very much.

Sci Fi has been good for us with burgers/rings/shakes. Sorry your experience was less than excellent.:earsboy:

Thank you to everyone who responded! I just made our PS's for Oct. 10th and was told that 12:15 was their first available seating. Does this sound right? I thought they opened at 11:30? Maybe it is b/c of our party size? Would it make a difference if I called every so ofen to see if seatings book up? Is 12:15 high time for lunch at MGM? Should I expect to wait a while to be seated? Thanks for answering all of my questions! You guys are the BEST!:D

Where did you end up booking?

Hi,
I voted for 50's, but we enjoy dining at both restaurants.
Sandy

Hey hygienejean - maybe we'll see ya there. I booked for 12:45 for a group of 12 on the same day.

Never eaten there, have high hopes for a CM that's ready to play!

::yes:: :sunny: :hyper:

We were at 50 Prime Time a couple of weeks ago. We were a party of 10, and they strung together a couple of corner booths with a table in the middle, and we fared just fine. Our Cousin (Rick?) was a real treat. I'm guessing that your party size does have something to do with your PS time.

Know what, though? I think I'd still plan a dessert stop at the Sci-Fi for about 4 PM one afternoon, just to check it out. I've not heard many complaints about desserts, altho you sure get mixed reviews on the food.

Keebles, hearing about your stepdad made me laugh, in spite of myself. Every family has one like him. The Brown Derby is my favorite restaurant in all the parks, btw (with the possible exception of Le Cellier.)

Hey ttichenor,
I'll keep my eye out for a party of 12! I am curious as to how they are seating your group. Did they divide you up in 2 tables or 3? Are you going to MNSSHP? We are going on the 12th!

They've got us set up as a one group of 10 and a table of 2. I reserved them without asking "family 3" of our group so it may be 8 of us. (DH, me, DSis, DBIL, DD12, DD9, DNi5 and DD12 friend)

We too are going to MNSSHP on the 12th! I've got DH, DSis, DBIL and myself Cast Member shirts from last year to wear (off ebay).

We're going to take a day off from the parks that day (? maybe short trip to BB or TL) and be ready to stay until they kick us out
