Should we go on the memeber cruise?

We have 3 DD ages 3,8, and 11. I just got my "even though you weren't selected the first time call." We have never been on DCL. While I understand some of your frustration in how the process was handled this time around, is it worth it? We've been wanting to do a DCL. Is the member cruise just as fun as a typical cruise, better, or not? Help!! Thanks! Looking forward to your advice. Bellesister

We are an "empty nest" couple, and we were on the '05 members cruise. I didn't mind the extra price for the cruise, because I think it was very special. There were special Disney guest speakers, special entertainment and our fellow DVC cruisers all added to the great time that we had. Some of the "gifts" in our room every nights were nice and some were referred to as "trinkets" by some. I'm not a collector, and I've given away many of the things. However, the "Ducky" Williams print (litho?) of Mickey and Minnie with the ship in the background have both been framed and each has an honored place, one in Ohio and one in Cape May.

There were promotions for adding on at SSR, and there were talks regarding new, beautiful places that you could use your DVC points at. We weren't interested in those options, and once we realized that some of the special meetings were geared toward doing those things, we just avoided the meetings.

I would do a Members Cruise again if the schedule fit my schedule better. When we are retired, perhaps.

Castaway Cay is beautiful. If this MC goes there twice like the previous one did (not ours, we stopped in Key West) I would definitely like to go on it. There are great activities for the children, and I think there tend to be fewer children on MC's because of schedules. So that would seem to me to be better for the children that are there, but I'm only guessing.

We like to cruise. There are things that I don't particularly like about DCL, for instance, even though there is an adult pool, it's rather small. You can stand in it, but it doesn't really "do it" as a pool for me. We've done a non-member DCL cruise, and decided that we wouldn't do one of those again. It's going to be a MC for the DVC/Disney special things, or some other cruise line.
One special thing was the fireworks at sea. Unfortunately there were lots of missteps, weather related, but still...isn't that a great idea?

That's the way we both feel.

Bobbi :)

We got the same call, and even though I have seen some negatives about the cruise, I jumped at the chance. This cruise will be stopping at Castaway Cay twice with a day at sea in between, and I was told that a few "special guests" will be there but there is no definites yet. If you decide to go, ask to be added on the SS Member Cruise newsletter update to be e-mailed to you. It will have more information about the cruise as the year goes by.
Hope to see some of you all there.
See you at sea.
