Should we drive or have transfers? WWYD? (NYE Trip)

Hello All,

We're travelling to Disney on the 30th for 3 nights...Flying into CDG. I'm wondering what you would all do and generally after opinions please :goodvibes

We could either have transfers, but unsure how much they are (used buses, trains and private cars in the past but I just can't remember how much we paid!)

OR, we could hire a car, we've had a quote for the 4 days with a car seat for our baby that comes in at £120.

the main reason I'm thinking of car hire is one thing that really ruins Disney for me is the scrum for the shuttle sat the end of the day/night (and I'm presuming that it's going to be awful on NYE!)...We're staying at Explorers so walking isn't an option.

Is parking and driving in Paris easy? (we've also thought about a day in Paris so this would cut out spends on trains etc)

Thanks for any and all help xxx :thumbsup2

Driving in Paris for the turn of the year can be a nightmare. And parking might be close to impossible, except maybe for the underground car parks which are quite expensive and might also be full.
Personnaly I wouldn't take the risk, unless you're ready to park rather far away from points of interest and take the subway. At that rate you might as well take the RER from chessy (DLP) down to Paris

For the "non-Paris" part of your trip, a car sounds nice, of course if you're confident and familiar with driving on the right hand side of the road and can operate a car with a steering wheel on the left. (this may prove difficult for some, so better make sure first)

Waiting for shuttles might be a pain in the b*tt, but you have to consider that the park's parking is fairly remote. And you need to expect a 10 to 15 minutes walk back to your car, depending if you came in early (park closer to the entrance) or depending on the number of guests leaving the park at the same time. And if you're with kids, you may have to carry them after a long day at the park
Also think that you'll need to do the driving, when a shuttle will drive for you

there are pros and cons, and there is no definite answer to your question.
Depends how you feel walking back to your car, and driving in potentially bad weather and snow after a very long day having fun and walking, walking and walking again :)

I hope you get a better picture about what to expect

as for the CDG-Disney hotel shuttle, expect 18 euros, one way, per adult for the VEA shuttle
Some here also might have solutions for private shuttles (saw that recently on this board)

wouldn't you also have to pay every day to park in the Disneyland Paris car park? The Explorers is about 5 minutes drive away from the car park for DLP (you pass the car park entrance when you take the shuttle bus). If I had a hire car I'd definitely leave it at the Explorers and take the shuttle in to the parks and out again. The Explorers is first drop-off and first pick-up too, so it really shouldn't be that crowded when you get on (although it will be at the park exit if you're leaving DLP with the masses at park closing).

I don't know how busy the exits to the car park get at the end of the park day in busy season, when you are going, so I guess that might be something else to consider.

Hmmm, I really don't know what to do now...Had kind of decided on car hire, but finding out that the car parks are a bit of a way away defeats my reasoning a bit.

Also, we're eating at Cafe Mickey at 8pm so will probably be heading back to the hotel at around 10pm (3 kids in tow!) so maybe the shuttles won't be AS manic??

Thanks Guys x

If this is New Year's Eve you're talking about, then I agree that the shuttles shouldn't be too bad at that time. The vast majority of guests will stay to see in the New Year in the park so the real mass exodus for the buses will be after midnight.

Also, in case anyone else is interested, it is possible to walk to/from the Explorers - it takes about 25 minutes and is a pleasant and safe walk but if your children are young then it's obviously not an option for you.

Thanks for that...It might be an option IF there was a bit of a wait for the shuttles...OUr 2 eldest would prefer keeping warm by walking than standing around and 25 mins isn't to long...OUr youngest is 18 months but will be well wrapped up in her pushchair (so envious!), so something to think about :thumbsup2
