Should We Change Our ADR for Yachtsman Steakhouse?

We are using the DDP for our trip in May. I have ADR's for the Yachtsman Steakhouse because I saw it on a Travel Channel special (a few years ago) and thought it looked great! Recently though, I have read some reviews that aren't very promising. What do you guys think? We want a good steakhouse that won't disappoint. Any suggestions? What is the best steakhouse on property that we can use the DDP? Anyone...

I would like to hear other people's opinions about this too. We did have our reception dinner at the Yachtsman last April and it was delicious! We are planning to go back for a late anniversary trip in August...but maybe things have really changed since a year ago and maybe we should try somewhere else

I was SO disappointed when I read the posts on Yachtsman. It is one of our very favorites!! We DID change our ADR after we read the reviews. We are opting for Jiko instead since everyone seems to rave about the filet
w/ mac-n- cheese and we have always wanted to try it. Still, I want the old Yachtsman back and am hoping we see a turn around in the reports.

You can do a search in this forum for "Yachtsman Steakhouse" to find some reviews. They seem really mixed. I just want to find a "knock-your-socks-off" steak place since we are saving a table service to have 2 TS available for this.

Well I've read great reviews for almost every table servce establishment.

AND I have read horrible reviews for almost every table service estabilshment!

We are going to give it a try in May and judge for ourselves. We won't be back in time to post our opinions for you but we will let everyone else know how it was.

I think you might want to try it for yourself. I read so many reviews also, some positive and some negative, but made ADR's for our August Trip. We thought the food was excellent and the service stellar. My DS works in a resort that houses a Shulas and thought that the meat was way better than what he had at his work site. Now many will disagree. We went in January with more family members and our meal was again very good. I don't think that I am unable to appreciate good food and therefore will like anything, but I am aware that many have had disappointing experiences.

I tend to read the reviews, but like to find out for myself.

As others have said, there are good and bad reviews for virtually every restaurant at WDW. I think any restaurant or server can have an off day. Whether we're on vacation or having a meal out at home, if we're not happy with something, we try to resolve it with our server first. If that doesn't work, we will ask for the manager.

I would look carefully at the menus available and decide based on that. DH and I had the steak at Jiko's last year and thought it was the best we've ever had - anywhere.

Yachtsman was our favorite WDW restaurant; we've been going there since it opened more than 15 years ago. We won't go back after our experience last month.

Really mediocre food, mediocre service, LOUSY menu, LOUSY food preparation, etc. etc.

We felt completely ripped off. And when I complained to the manager, I got an "Oh well. A restaurant can't be on every night."

Do Jiko or Citrico.
