We are considering buying DVC site unseen..... has anyone done this? We are considering Beach Club because of its trade value but not sure if this is wise after reading some posts. Any advice you can give would be soooooo appreciated. Also, considering buying resale.... but not sure about this either.

The best advice will be:

A. Buy where you think that you will want to spend your WDW vacations.

B. Resale will give you the most for your money.

We have bought both resale and direct from Disney. We bought where we wanted to stay (OKW and BCV). BCV for location, SAB and 11 month window at holidays. OKW for value, laid back atmosphere and largest accommodations.

Our guide at Disney is Byron and we used Pat Spell at The Timeshare Store for our resale. Both are first rate!

We bought a BWV resale sight unseen (although we did walk around both Boardwalk and Beach Club resorts in December, but we didn't actually tour the DVC models). For whatever reason, my husband and I both liked the Boardwalk resort and area, and BWV is only available through resale right now. Also, with BWV you can make reservations at the 11-month window for Standard View rooms, which use less points. Ralphd is right: Buy where you want to stay the most. Resale will give you more for your money if there are banked and current points to use. Make sure that the contract has at the very least current year's points; some contracts are stripped of points.

Tagging along with what others have said buying where you think you would prefer to spend most of your vacations is frequent given and very wise advice. Buying something sight unseen is a risk and you are wise to inquire. But, with those things said, we are very pleased with our purchase at BCV. We've been three times now and stayed in a one bedroom and a studio and we have really enjoyed everything abou the place.

Yes, you are going to read complaints about any number of things (heat, cold, water pressure, size, etc.) Personally, I think what you may read in the form of complaints can best be summed up under that broad category of "we are all different" and thus we will see and experience things differently. I have had no problem with any of those areas.

On the plus side, if you like EPCOT you are just a short walk away and if you like MGM it's a pleasant boat ride of 15 minutes or so, so you are really pretty close to two of the parks. You're just a walk away from the Boardwalk while at the same time far enough away if you like things more quiet.

There are lots of things to commend themselves where BCV is concerned but as many others point out, each resort has it's own special charm.

I hope you have fun making your decision and that it turns out to be an excellent choice whatever you ultimately decide.
