I think all TS reservations should now be secured with a credit card.

1. People wouldn't "overbook" so they could choose what they are in the mood for that particular day.

2. People would cancel reservations if there was a "no show" fee.

3. California Grill already requires CC #'s so the system is in place.

4. Last minute getaways would be so much more pleasant.

I could not agree more!

I think 24 hour cancellations should be enforced for ALL restaurants, with a $25 no show (not per person, just per reservation).

Not unless they want to start losing customers. I wouldn't secure an ADR with a CC...

I would love them to secure the reservations with a CC but I don't think it will happen in the non-signature restaurants.

What I would like instead is for a certain % of reservations be held back until 48 hours ahead of time. That way even if all the ADRs fill up there will be some seats that open up close to the day of the reservation for people who don't feel like planning their eating arrangements 90 days ahead of time.

I would also get rid of free dinning and never bring it back.

Highly unlikely, they don't have a problem filling up the restaurants, either charging a fee (or point deductions for missed reservations), I don't think would have a neglible impact.

I agree. I wouldn't mind securing my reservation with a CC.

I vote no - If the system they have now didn't work, I'm sure Disney would change it.
but I'll vote for the get rid of free dining - or get rid of the dining plan all together (though I suspect having the quick service dining plan should help with the congestion)

What would be the point-the restaurants are full no matter what. It would simply be a total revenue generator for Disney and that would make a lot of people mad I would think. Lesson being, made ADR's.

I would love it. Like you said, this would maybe put a dent into double and triple bookings.

but the double and triple bookings don't effect anything. Like the airlines do, Disney will operate based on the fact that a certain percent of people aren't going to show up. If they took a deposit for every PS (thus guaranteeing that every single PS was going to show up) they would just take less PS to start. You, as a consumer, are in the same boat.
It does not bother me one bit that some people make multiple reservations, or that some people don't bother to cancel. And having worked in the restaurant business I understood that occasionally people don't show, things happen - that's just part of doing business.

I'm with the get rid of "Free"(actually it's just included) Dining, gack, the food choices are almost all the same everywhere on-property. *And* I think a lot of the food has gotten kind of mediocre, too.

It's kind of funny...I make a point of getting the beignets at Port Orleans/French Quarter every time I go, mostly because I think WDW will somehow get rid of them simply because they are unique to PO/FQ.

agnes!

I'd also do away with free dining before deposits on all adrs.
I don't mind the signature restaurants but it would be too much of a bookkeeping nightmare if they did it on all.

I could imagine all the people that would say they couldn't make it to the restaurant because of traffic, etc and couldn't call. So they don't want to be charged when it was disney transportation, ride failure that made them miss the adr.

I wouldn't book under that kind of a system. Then again we haven't booked an ADR more than a day in advance in about 5 years or more now. We call that morning and if it is available that is great. Or most of the time we just walk up and see if they have space. I think the whole free dining as well as the push for making at least one ADR a day has, as a previous poster said as well, created an atmosphere of mediocre food.

If they did this, I wouldn't book at all. I would just go up that day and see what is available. Kind of like what was done ages ago when you could use kiosks to book at the beginning of the day.

Sorry but Disney food is not worth a credit card deposit. I don't have to for far superior local food establishments here. So no way I'd do it there.

I can book at a 5 star restaurant in NYC without a CC reservation. WDW isn't any more busy. This is about inconsiderate patrons, but they will continue to double book. The difference - they will cancel the day before to avoid the fee, helping the walk-up customer, not the ADR customer.

This policy change would not help the ADR patrons...

Which ones, I've always needed to use Credit Cards to reserve some of the hottest restaurants (granted Disney doesn't compete here, but there is also a lot less "double booking" going on in NYC)?
