Should the cruise lines require travel insurance to sail with them?

Because they will be able to charge more, because everyone will have to get a policy.

They certainly won't give away money by dropping rates. They're in business to increase their profits, not give them away.
By requiring people to buy insurance that is rarely used, they don't have to raise rates a penny to see their profits soar. So they can drop rates and clean up. Just common sense.

Or they can just not, and make even more money.... over the last few years we haven't heard much about anyone dropping the price of anything, even if they are making record profits.
 
I don't think we should see mandatory insurance, personally. Not everyone needs it, and of all the times we've purchased it we've yet to make a single claim. Thousands spent with, thankfully, nothing to show for it. Sometimes we do skip it, and I appreciate the choice in the matter. If its made mandatory I would hope it wouldn't look the way it does now; that the ships bargain for much cheaper coverage with the truly expensive portions such an emergency evac completely covered.

The more they sell, the more they make for sure. Right now travel insurance is crazy expensive due to covid because people were making more claims.
 
Maybe me paying attention more, I have notice more stories about people on cruises that get sick or injured, and or get stuck in a foreign country need medical attention/ evacuation home then only to hear they did not have travel insurance.

No. Cruise lines should focus on cruising, not insuring.

Where do you get your cruise news from? If social media a) YouTube is feeding you more because you watch it, and b) the proliferation of content providers means more are using negative stories as click bait. Just saying might be some bias going on.

and I agree with @kiford, I don't empathize with these stories just like I don't empathize with stories of people traveling to foreign counties with live ammunition left in their bags from previous hunting trips.

And, cruise lines definitely won't do it because it will raise automatically raise their prices considerably and hence cant advertise for the low low price of only ...
