Should my teens download My Disney Experience on their own iphones?

I have done all the planning for the family ( dining reservations, FP+). All are under "family" in MDE and all are for all 4 of us, same times. If my teens decide they want something different and not hang out with mom & dad, should I have them download MDE on their phones, but use my login to manage their own fp+? (Thinking this might be a good backup plan too if my older iPhone dies...we can use theirs in the parks. )

Last year, before Fp+ was in effect, mine loved the app on their own phone. They loved checking the wait times and helping plan where to go next. Since we also have a younger, we would sometimes separate for only one ride at a time, so the phones were great for "Where are you now?" Texts. It also cuts down on anxiety about getting separated.

Even if you just use the texts, which we mostly did, it was very helpful. The wifi was very good in the parks. With Fp+ this summer, I think it will be even more helpful for them to see our schedule, so I am not constantly having to be tour guide/ bossy mom. Just make sure they have a buttoning pocket or a cross body bag/ fanny pack to carry in. Back pockets are not good with all the getting in/ out of rides.

In Fall, my Dsis and I were in a testing FP+/ magic band group. Seems like we did have a bit of trouble getting our two apps to sync. I haven't tried yet this year with the boys.

if they will be touring on their own, it is worth it just to research wait times and such.

I think it's a useful app for everyone in your party and since it's free, I'd download it!

Mine did and it was helpful. They enjoyed checking wait times on their own as well!

I've downloaded it onto my DD14 ipod which is what you use in the parks. The only downside is that I like to surprise them sometimes with things like where we are eating, next trip is FP+ to A&E, upgraded resort ressie the kids don't know about, etc. So, I have asked her not to go into the details of the day itinerary without me around. But, if she see's something I was hoping she wouldn't, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me, but might be for another poster.

Question: would you have your teens sign up for their own MDE account or just log in on mine? I'm a little hesitant for them to use mine since they could accidentally change an ADR.

I agree they should not have access to yours. I would hate it if they accidentally deleted something. With the FP and ADR system - anything is possible. I would let them make their own and just link them.

Warning: my husband used his iPhone 4 to run MDE. It was very buggy. Half the time our dining ressies did not show up. Mind you, the ressies were fine and we had no trouble, but they just didn't show up at all on MDE. I had printouts of all our FP+ and ADR's and I was very happy I had them.

Yes I think that would be a great idea! It's always awesome to be able to check wait times and see what FP+ you have for the day!
