I know that DME starts in may so there is no report on how smooth it will go yet. I have always used a towncar to get to the resorts, and we have one booked now, but im wondering if i should call disney and book their magical express service. I just dont want it to take forever to get to the resort, but i wouldnt mind saving $100 instead of using the car. I know with mears, usually they make many stops and it takes a while, thats why i stopped using them after 1 trip.

what do you think and what are all of you planning on doing??

:flower: We are going in October and plan on using DME. We have used mears and cabs, but we think this will definately be worth the money we'll save. And we are hoping that the stops won't be too bad. I'm sure if you call WDW and ask about how long the trip from the airport to the Cont is they would be able to give you an idea. It's worth trying at least once, if you like it you'll save alot of money over the years. We hope our view helped a little. Good Luck!!!!

I read in another thread that because so many people will use this service, Disney will try to put as many people together as possible from the same resort, thereby cutting down on stops. Also, the luggage will be cargoed in a separate vehicle so this should cut down on a *lot* of delays - waiting for people to get their luggage off the bus, check that they have the rights bags etc. can take a lot of time. So, fingers crossed, it will be speedy!

Still going to take a town car. We value the grocery stop. Saves us tons of money on our vacation. Also, this may be anal, but I want to see my luggage before I leave the airport. I want to have my luggage with me when I check into my room, to change, get settled etc. I don't want to come in after spending a day at the parks and then unpack. Just my opinion.

Since ME doesn't start until May 5 it doesn't help me on our May 3rd arrival but I am definitely going to use it on the return.

I am up in the air on whether to use the towncar or Mears for my arrival on May 3. Its a difficult decision that I will definitely need to make this week!

Decision made: Using FL Tours for May 3rd arrival pick-up

A towncar service would be more predictable. You have to wait for your checked luggage at baggage claim. Once you have everything, you'll be on your way fairly quickly, and, except for an optional grocery stop, your ride to your WDW resort is nonstop.

With Disney's Magical Express (DME), you might be on your way while others on your flight are still waiting for their luggage -- or you might just miss a DME coach, so you may have to wait a while before another coach goes to your resort.

Each DME coach will make 3 or 4 stops. You could be the first stop. You could be the last stop. The stops should be fairly brief because the luggage will be on luggage trucks, not in the belly of your coach. And I assume that the 3 or 4 stops will usually be near each other.

I expect the DME service to be much better than the current Mears service, but it will still be group transit, not a private ride.
