Should I keep our San Angel lunch ADR?

We're on the DDP, and I have one extra ADR. We're doing H & V Fantasmics package (I hear bad things, but my 4, 4, 6, 9, and 11 year olds LOVE buffets, and as much as I am a huge foodie, who loves to try new things, most of them stick to buttered noodles and chicken nuggets), Cape May Cafe dinner (we're staying at the BCV), Kona Cafe (timed so that we can go to the beach to view wishes - I have a 4 year old terrified of fireworks, and I can't imagine being at MK with her), Rose and Crown (timed so that we can go out to the patio for Illuminations, leaving my scared 4 year old inside with one of us), CP for lunch, Ankersaus princess dinner (I love fish, cheese, and fruit), and San Angel for lunch after our Epcot morning. I thought it would be a nice place to sit and relax after a full morning, and the kids would like it, but is it worth paying for an ADR OOP? We're going next week, during F & W, so we could just snack on through. We're also travelling with my parents, who will need a break - they're not on the DDP.

Also, can anyone suggest a decent CS restaurant at the BC or Boardwalk? We should be arriving around lunchtime, and we'll want to eat and swim before heading over to MGM.

Keep your lunch reservation at San Angel and then when you are there, check it out and see if it fits into what you want to do. If it doesn't (not hungry, don't need the break, it's not what you thought, the menu doesn't look as great as it did online), then just cancel it and go on. Not harm, no foul.

Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club although that can get crowded. At the Boardwalk, you have the pizza window and the hot dog place across from it. That makes for a nice quick bite. The seating is shared and outside. But it's very nice to people watch and relax. Picabu's cafeteria is at the Dolphin.

Our meal at San Angel Inn was the worst food we have *ever* eaten @ WDW. And that was getting it for $0 w/free DDP last August. If I would have been paying OOP I would have demanded to speak to a manager to receive some type of compensation (which is not something I have ever had to do at any restaurant). Our server made mistakes on 4 of the 7 meals we ordered, plus I requested my DD's steak well-done and it came out oozing. We sent it back to the kitchen to be cooked a bit longer and it wasn't returned until the server was bringing our desserts. Of course, this is just my personal experience and I know a lot of people love this restaurant, but I will never eat there again!

San Angel Inn gets mixed reviews. If anything, go try it for yourself and ask to sit next to the water. My kids loved watching the boats go by, keeps them busy till the food comes. Its a neat place to try at least once.

I would keep the ADR just in case you miss/skip another ADR for some reason and have meal credits to use up. With kids, I think that's always a possibility. But whether San Angel is the right place, I don't know.

Totally agree with you - there's many postings about the horrible food & service at San Angel. Much better to sit & eat at the Cantina right across from it. Cheaper too - we won't eat there anymore after wasting our money & our DDP there. They have you crammed in there so tight you could eat off the table next to you & you're lucky if the waiter comes by to actually take your order!!

Good luck if you go...................:rolleyes1
