Should I just wait for the D23 membership through DVC? Or...

Is there any benefit to getting a Gold D23 membership now at full price as opposed to getting the complimentary membership through DVC and then upgrading to Gold? I had read previously that it would really only matter if you were a Charter member (which I would obviously not be) and would possibly lose Charter status if using the DVC membership (though these were rumors). Will we get Silver member status through DVC? Or is it actually something less than the silver membership? Thank you for any responses, I know the info may be lacking right now, but I am anxious to get a D23 membership!

Also a side question....for those of you who do have the membership, are there any special perks you do like with the exception of the events you can go to (we would probably not be able to make any of the events)? What perks do you take advantage of? Thanks!

DVC has said all along that members would get a "special" or "unique" level of membership in D23.

The last wave of relatively vague information suggested that it would be a sub-Silver level. No member id card...no certificate...no free gifts...no print mag and probably no access to booking D23 special events. Also without a membership card, we may not have access to any of the normal D23 discounts and perks.

If this proves to be accurate, about all we will get are:

- D23 email newsletter
- Access to content on D23 website
- Ability to purchase D23 merchandise

Also there has been no mention of DVC owners being able to "upgrade" to gold or silver status at a lower price.

If you want to preserve a charter status or take advantage of any benefits which are not included in the free offering, I would suggest renewing your paid membership.
