I am not sure whether to join the Disney Club. I am waiting to close on DVC points for VWL and I have already signed up for and recieved my AmEx Skymiles membership. Should I also join Disney Club? (I don't do much shopping for Disney item's except for "the pins", DH started a collection of them recently). Am I eligible for a DC discount since I am (will be) a DVC member? Is there anything else I should join while I'm at it? I did so much research to decide on a DVC membership my head is stuffed! Thank you all for your help, these boards are great!
Any opinions would be appreciated on DC membership.
Thank you,
P

Hi Tess

No you will not be enrolled in the Disney Club by your membership in DVC. (I wished it were true)

I have bought the DC (aka MKC) in the past because it saved me money on my Annual Passes. The DVC discount does not apply to the Annual Passes. In addition, they do offer some resturants that the DVC discount does not. If we did not buy the APs it would not be worth it for us.

The biggest thing DC has to offer--room and package discounts--you will likely not use. However, as noted above it can make sense for the ticket discounts particularly for the AP. Also, if you travel a bit elsewhere, its Entertainment discount for other hotels is useful if you do not have Entertainment otherwise.

It is definately worth it for the pass discounts. Especially if you are buying a number of passes. There is no other specific benefit for DVC members to own DC, but that one thing is definately worth it.

In addition to the AP discounts already mentioned, there are usually car rental discounts from National Car Rental. Disney Club members are currently being offered a free membership in the Emerald Club (a $50 value) and a variety of discount coupon programs (see the Transportation Board at this site for details). I recently booked a 5-day rental in July (compact car) with a total discount of 36% off the normal daily rate using a combination of DC program code and DC discount coupon.

another vote in favor of the DC. Discounts on annual passes and National rental car made it extremely valuable for us. I have an upcooming 6 day trip to NC, I saved $80 on the rental using the DC at National. More than worth it in my eyes.
