Should I get a Disney Visa or Annual Pass to save $

Is it worth it for me to now apply for a Disney Visa or purchase an Annual Pass so I can somehow save some money on my trip we booked last March for early this November 4th through the 12th?

Here is the deal, in March, my mother in-law, who is a Florida resident, booked 7 nights at the new suites at All Star Music with the full hopper park passes for all 7 nights for 3 adults and 2 children.

Here are my real questions, please help:

1) As it stands now, will we be able to get any discounts with the new codes coming out, if so, on what and how much?

2) Will my mother in-law be able to get some money back on anything since she is a Florida resident?

3) Is it worth my while to apply for a Disney Visa and then charge my ressie to this card to save, if so, how much money would I save?

4) If I do purchase the Annual Pass right now, would it save me anything on my existing ressie for this coming Nov.?

Thanks guys, I just don't want to miss the boat and you are all seasoned pros and I am confused!!!

* We do not have the dinning plan, was hoping for the free dinning plan but it seems that won’t happen.

If you purchase the annual pass now, you would be eligible for the AP rate, but I would see if it is available for your room and your time frame first.

You wouldn't activate your pass until you get there, so it would still be good for a year after first use. And technically I believe only one adult would have to purchase the AP to get the special room rate. On the deluxes, you would be saving $75 a night, and less for the values and moderates. You really just need to do the math. Would the extra expense of an AP be less than the difference of the cost of your room purchases with your Florida residents and the AP rate for your room? They say that the break even point between the cost of your passes and the cost of an AP is 10 days, but this doesn't factor in the other perks and discounts of the AP.

When you call about availability for the AP discount, be sure to check whether it is available for the new ASMu suites. If not, you might be better off to get two rooms at ASMu instead. They might not be included in the discounts being brand new and in demand.

It looks like your code is FBY for a room only discount. I would have your mother-in-law call and make sure this is applied to your current reservation. This would probably be the easiest and most cost effective code for you if the AP rate doesn't pan out in your favor.

Do you have a package or room only? There are special cancellation policies on packages that you should ask about before switching anything also.

It is confusing, I hope this helps a little.

We have the package except air and dinning. Was hoping to get free dinning or if we did get any codes, maybe the $ we saved could be put towards the dinning plan.

My mother in-law is calling after lunch to make sure, if they allow it, that she gets a Florida resident discount.

Are there any codes that just provide discounts on park passes or dinning because as you noted, with the suites being new and in demand, I can't see getting any breaks on them.

Thanks

If I could get a Florida Resident's discount, then I would see about applying that code to a new room only reservation for ASMu Suites, and then see what the cancellation policy would be on the package. If there are no fees and rooms are available with the FL Res. code, then I would rebook, then cancel my package. You can always buy your tickets separately either from Disney or from a discount ticket broker.

If the code is not available for the Suites, or for your dates. Then I would see about applying the code they say will be available to anyone in a few days for the package. This should be the Disney Visa deal, but without the card restrictions. They just make the special packages available a few days early as a Visa perk. By the time you get your Disney Visa, they may be gone. I have a Disney Visa, and use mine for everything and get a lot of Rewards $ that way, but I don't know getting yours now would pay off.

You can only use one discount at a time. What I usually do is to book a room only with a AAA discount, and wait for a better code to come out. Room only reservations are easier to cancel and adjust than packages are. Be sure to do all this by phone, instead of using the internet, because different policies apply.

Even paying regular price for the dining plan could pay off if you would eat a sit-down meal every day. We do, and this meal usually costs at least $100 for two adults, a 13 year old, and a six year old.
