DD left for resident Girl Scout camp VERY early on Monday morning and here it is Thursday and I don't really miss her. Tuesday night it appeared they were getting some pretty bad storms (she's about an hour west of Minneapolis/St. Paul) and I worried but I didn't miss her. The cat appears to be missing her more than I do - maybe it's because in 3 weeks we'll be together for 2 1/2 weeks on vacation.

The bad thing is - I don't feel bad for not missing her. I'm actually very proud of myself. This is the 5th year she has gone by herself and the first year I missed her some, the second year was horrible - I cried every night to sleep because I missed her so bad (she was gone like 10 days), the third year I missed her some but not alot, and last year wasn't bad - I missed her the first time she went and the second time she went it wasn't too bad - just missed her like the 2nd day. When she goes she's gone for a week if not a bit more (like the year she was gone 10 days).

Nope. You shouldn't feel bad.
Sounds like you are confident that she is having a great time and is safe. :)
That's great!
Enjoy your time!!!

Nope--I don't think you should feel badly at all.

It is a testament to how well you have raised her. You are not worried about her, you know she is and will be fine, and you are enjoying a little adult time. No problem in that whatsoever.

And I think because she has done this for a number of years, the shock is not as bad for you anymore.

Enjoy the peace and quiet!!!!!

I agree, you have raised her wonderfully so you don't worry and you deserve the PEACE!!!! When J.C. is somewhere I trust or with people I trust I have a wonderful time!

Enjoy it Chris!!

<font color=navy>I agree with the rest. You're a great mom & you love your dd. It's nice she can go somewhere without you being so overly worried that you can't enjoy this adventure in her life. :)

Ok, does this sound silly to anyone else. Chris, you are feeling bad because you don't feel bad?

You obviously chose a great place that you are comfortable with and your daughter loves. Don't feel bad. :)

My DD left Monday for GS camp too. I can honestly say I really don't miss her. I think part of it may be I am too busy keeping youngest DD in line and getting ready to go on vacation next week. I did take time at work today to write her a letter just so she knows I am thinking about her.

I mailed a letter off to her yesterday too so she knew I didn't forget about her :D Usually I write the letters before she goes because they have a box that you can drop notes and give designated dates for delivery and they will do that. But I forgot and ran out of time to do them (dh who is her stepfather did them to her and he usually does too) and I apologized to her and she said that was okay but I could mail a letter to her. So I did!!! Now just hope it gets there before she leaves on Sat to come home!!!! :)
