Should I drop a WDW day, and visit SW instead?

This will only be our 2nd WDW trip as a family. I just found out that you can feed the dolphins, and I think my kids would loove doing this!! I also didn't realize how close SW is to WDW. Now I am wondering if we should spend a day there....but to do so, we would have to drop something from our WDW itinerary, and I am not sure what to drop. So, WWYD?? IF you would definitely fit SW in, help me decide what to drop.

arrive mid-day, DHS to see Osborne lights
Epcot, WS only
resort day, MVMCP evening
AK
Epcot, FW
MK
DHS
MK

My family loves DHS and Epcot. I think DH would say to drop a MK day, but I am wondering if we should just skip AK. Thoughts?? TIA I have to make my ADR's next week, so I need to decide soon!

I would skip a MK day but that's just me. I love AK.

I'd give up my day at DHS to go to SW and keep the 2 days at MK so you have time to do the meet and greets and all the rides with the kids.

I also love AK and think the kids would enjoy the shows etc. there, too. It is a don't miss park for us.

I would drop a day at MK too. I love AK, one of my very favs, so I wouldn't drop that or one of the other parks, esp. since your family loves them. To me, since you have 2 days at MK and MVMCP, I would drop an MK day.

Maybe you could do a half and half day or go to Sea World and play it by ear if you maybe want to head to MK later that night?

I'm running into this problem myself. I'm going Jan 24-Feb 2, planning on doing at day at Discovery Cove, and assuming they still have the SeaWorld or Busch Gardens tickets with the package, I'm thinking of dropping a day and doing Sea World. Haven't conferred with the gal I'm going with yet so I'm hoping she's either "absolutely yes" or "absolutely no" because I'll stay on the fence til the day arrives.

I too would drop a MK day.

Seaworld is a great place to spend the day. Especially if you have kids. Its a very kid friendly atmosphere and im sure your family would enjoy it.

I am so not an AK person....But we visit in June and it is HOT in AK and I can just never get into the park - we have gone various times of the year in the past and find myself skipping AK. however with EE there, DD really likes to go there now.If you are visiting in the cooler months, i would say yes to Sea World. i would never go there in the summer- lack of shade, outdoor shows....way too hot for me....But a fall trip, yes i would do SW...

It's a very individual choice and depends on what you like. Sea World happens to be my family's favorite of all the great Orlando theme parks. We always do two days at Sea World on every trip and usually just pick one of the Disney theme parks to go to for one day. We think it's a terriffic park, and very worthwhile to visit. We wouldn't think of going to Orlando without going there, but we're such huge marine mammal fans and are probably pretty biased because of that.

I agree with Kathy it's down to personal choice, Magic Kingdom is easily our favourite theme park.

I would drop one of your EPCOT days personally and go to Sea World instead.

I would use your resort day with the MVMCP to do SeaWorld. SeaWorld is a relaxing park so no one would be too tired for the MVMCP in the evening. I think the combination of SeaWorld and MVMCP would be a great day. There is lots of sitting for shows at SeaWorld. If you want to feed the dolphins - do your research because they have specific times that they are fed at.

Also, you are doing AK the next day which closes early so you could have your resort time then. :)If you find that you want more resort time later in the week, you can use one of your MK days for that.

My son is 4 and he loves SeaWorld. We just went in April and found Journey to Atlantis to be a total walk on. It is a fun and relaxing park with great entertainment.

Our trips to Orlando are not complete without a day at SeaWorld. It is a completely different environment, so much more laid back. It's a breath of fresh air. So I would say definitely go. Since you've got 3 MK days, I'd give up one of those days. But whatever day you choose to give up, I'd say it's worth it.

DH and DS 15 and DS 5 are big DW fans. BUT- when it comes to picking what to do- always a Sea World day make the cut. We skipped it last time and went to all parks, but with MK in renovations and new stuff coming within a couple years- I say skip your second MK day for sure!!! Take the extra time at Epcot! Don't give up one of your days there! And don't give up your day at AK or DHS!!!!

You won't be disappointed.... feed those dolphins first thing, feed the rays and keep your camera handy.... just relaxing and beautiful.

If I can also recommend something- on your resort day you could even do a breakfast at another resort so as to check it out and still be in Disney mode! Always a hit!

We are leaving Saturday and not even doing any Dis parks- just staying close, doing character breakfasts, will do Downtown Disney several times, wander and explore other resorts and just take it all in! We have Discovery Cove planned along with SW, but this time we just wanted a change! And as much as we love the four parks, it is ok to skip one and wait for the fun changes next time!

Have fun planning!

We are probably going to go to Seaworld one day in our trip in August. We were planning on going to Seaworld all day and then going to MK for the night EMH. I was thinking that way it is almost like we didn't miss much.

Thanks for the suggestions!! You know, I think I might plan a breakfast the resort day.....just not completely sure yet. I don't want to spend the day running around and wearing everyone out before we get to MVMCP, but I really, really want to go to the AKL and eat at Boma for breakfast!!

This is what I've decided to do!

when we do Disney.... we ONLY do Disney. I have found that when we just do disney we can save so much more (no car, and everything but meals is already paid for.)

This year were doing Universal, SW, and wet and wild...the only time we will set foot on Disney property is for dinner at T-rex.

But that is just me.... If you already are going to have a car, and you know you may not be back for a while, and its something the whole family will enjoy......GO FOR IT!!! lol

have a great trip

If you go to SW be sure and stay for the evening Shamu Rocks show. It is fabulous and not to be missed. I think it is at 7:00 so you could still be back at MK for the later part of EMH.

We are going to Disney in December and my son asked if he can go again to Sea world...he loved it last time we went to Disney. I think it was $15 cab ride from AKL. Since you are going to MVMCP and 2 days in MK, I would drop one MK. I would not go to Sea World on the day MVMCP (we are going to CM for Breakfast then DTD to do a little shopping and then nap). Sea World is a whole day with a child. I'm hoping we got a nice day (I planned a Thursday). Your kids will love it

I don't think I would attempt sea world and then MVMCp in the same day... 5 children, I think thats too stressful. You already have a pretty full schedule. I would drop the extra MK day.

Your kiddos are very young. Only you know how much they can handle. I'd never do SW and then evening at the park, no matter what the event. I also wouldn't have only one MK day with kiddos your age. Our least fav park is HS and our two favs are E and MK. Each family has their own favourites. As yours includes HS and E, I'd skip AK. We usually only spend 1/2 to 3/4 day there anyway. If you think they'd like SW better, go for it. We did SW a few years ago and really, it wasn't our favourite park. We found it a lot of waiting for shows to start. We're going back this time because DD wants to feed the dolphins. We plan to spend 1/2 day there, that's it.
