Should I do this?

I have a room booked at the Comtemporary Resort for my mom, my 7 year old daughter and myself for our upcoming trip in May (I am paying for the whole trip). I have just talked to my wonderful Dreams Unlimited travel agent and with the Disney Visa special, I can afford to switch the reservations to the Grand Floridian---which is where my mother would love to stay but not when I am paying for it because she says it is wildly too expense. We have never stayed at either of these resorts so what you would you do? I think that this would be a great surprise for my mom. We usually stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian but we wanted to try something different this time.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

If you can afford to make the change, I'd say DO IT! Then surprise your mom with some awesome magic of your own when you check-in. Maybe you could tell her before you check-in to your hotel, you'd like to make a quick visit to the GF. Then walk up, check-in and present her with her key. If she objects, tell her Mickey and Minnie made some magic for her vacation. How could she say no to that?!?! Hope you have a terrific time!!!

If you have a tower room at the comp. I would stay their. If you have a wing, I would move to the GF

I had a standard garden room at the Contemporary. But yesterday after reading everything I could get my eyes and hands on about the GF, I have switched to the GF.

I haven't told my mom. I'm not going to until we check in!! I am going to surprise her with the GF and a spa treatment at the health club!!!
