Should I cancel my Signature reservation, & what do I (last minute) replace it with?

This is a two part question of sorts.. DH and I are going to WDW Sepember 8-14 and I have thought hard about my Yachtsman reservation ever since I made it. I am not sure I want to do anything 'dressy' during our trip, and DH agrees. I'm uncertain of what to wear and I don't really want to worry about that while on vacation. We will clean up, but at the most, we would be in fresh park clothes, maybe a tad nicer (like shorts, polo, tennis shoes for DH and for myself, shorts and a shirt and sandals). I know people say that they see people like this, but I don't want to be uncomfortable during meal. What are your thoughts in this?

If I were to cancel it, what do I replace it with this late in the game? I would LOVE to have LeCellier and Coral Reef, but I've tried several times and I don't guess anyone is canceling those. Our other current reservations include...

Ohana (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Kona Cafe (dinner)
Rose & Crown (dinner)
Sci Fi (lunch - Out of Pocket)

Technically we would only have to find one replacement, and rather than paying OOP for Sci Fi, it would be covered under the dining plan. But I would rather replace it with two other restaurants (dinner preferably, we don't like a heavy lunch, and we don't want to give up any more early park hours for breakfast). DH and I both like Italian, so I would like to try for a Tony's reservation (we ate there in 2006 and we liked it). But I don't know what to do about the other reservations. We are pretty simple eaters, but would like a good steak (to replace the ones we were hoping for at Yachtsman).

Thanks for your help!

We actually made a similar decision. We had booked a signature but I agonized over it because it ate into our dining credits and we would have to hire a sitter for the kids or take them to a kids club (and there isn't one at our resort). Not something I particularly wanted to do. Then there was the getting fancier than a t-shirt and shorts issue and finally I just scrapped it and added another character meal:rotfl:
If it's been bothering you I say to give the Dining Line a call a few times until you snag something interesting. Then you won't be paying anything out of pocket for dining (except tips).
Oops didn't read the part where you mentioned replacing it with two meals. How about trying for Tutto Italia in Epcot?
And have you checked the September ADR trades and cancellations thread? There might be something on the last few pages you can use that someone is getting rid of.

What you are suggesting is perfectly fine for the signature restaurants; just not for V&A. The rules are basically no cutoffs, torn clothes, T-shirts or tank tops. A collared shirt with nice shorts and tennis shoes (or sandals) is fine.

I laugh at every one of these threads where people are agonizing over what to wear to a WDW restaurant. :lmao: If it's not V&A, you should have no worries. Wash up, put on a fresh polo shirt and shorts (not cut-offs), tennis shoes or sandals, and you are good to go. :thumbsup2 If others choose to wear slacks or dresses, that's fine too. But I don't wear dresses or dress shoes on vacation.

As to the other restrictions in the dress code -- torn/dirty clothes, half-naked shirts -- I don't dress like that in public...ever.

I ate in the Yachtsman steakhouse and I would say 85% of the people were in shorts and polos/men, shirts/women. I guarantee you will NOT feel out of place at all. I would stick to this ressie if that is the only reason you are thinking of changing it. It was delicious. :thumbsup2

My family typically wears shorts and polos to all the signature restaurants and had never felt out of place. I wouldn't stress over the dress. Go and enjoy a fabulous meal.
