Should I book my SW flights now??? SW Credit involved too. Need advice please.

I booked my DVC 6 night stay this past Monday for Oct. 17th. Should I book my SW flights now or wait????? We have to fly back on a Sunday. A first for us. We usually fly weekdays. Right now the return flight is 218. YIKES!!! Going down Monday night 83. YAY!!!

Ok I also have a 135 buck credit on a flight I just took this month and has to be used by early Dec. That credit is just in my name. So I have read that if you use a credit and get another credit the USE by date will be based on the first credit. Is that correct?? SO if I use the 135 on the return flight and the flight goes down and I get a credit I will have to use that new credit by the date in Dec. correct????? I don't want to screw up. Should I book one ways??? Should I book my flight separate??? Thoughts? Advice? TIA

I would go ahead and book both flights if you can afford the $218+$83. Just do the average, $150 each way sounds better,lol. It would hurt if the price went up or the cheaper fares were sold out. I've heard people say if southwest lowers the price, you can rebook and get the credit for future travel, but have not done it. I can't help with any of the credit stuff, I always fly southwest, but never have had any credit to use with them.

1. Yes, any money you pay to book a new flight, in which part of the previous credit was used, inherits the expiration date of the previous credit (in your case, early December).

2. For this reason, you should definitely book separate outgoing and incoming flights, to avoid "contaminating" too much of your travel with the early December expiration date, in case you have to cancel or change the new flight.

3. I always book SWA flights as 2 one-way trips, rather than round trip, because it's easier to change one part of the trip without affecting the other. There is no penalty for doing this with Southwest. The total price of both flights will be exactly the same as a round-trip ticket.

4. Keep in mind that if you were the only person who had a reservation for the flight you have the $83 credit for, you will be the only passenger who gets the money credited to her flight. (You can't put part of your credit toward a new passenger who was not booked on that old flight. If the passenger had been booked on the old flight, then they will get their share of the credit for the new flight, even though you were the one who booked and paid for the reservation.)

Thanks guys. Well I booked my flight as roundtrip because the departure was 83 and return was 218. I figured if I used my credit of 135 you could say it brought my return flight down to 83 so I can live with that since I really won't be able to use any credit if either legs go down in price before Oct. because it has to be used Dec of this year. We are not flying anywhere until next April. I see today that the return flight is down 5 bucks so I guess my hubby and son can get that small credit.
