My boyfriend and I are planning on attending HHN next September for the first time ever!
Since vacation packages are available through 2023 I wasn't sure if I should purchase one now for RPR to secure a hotel room and then wait until HHN tickets come out and purchase those separately?
Our plan is for a Sunday - Saturday trip.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm booking for my daughters Halloween HHN birthday already. Just so I know I have exactly what and when I want.

In general the packages are not typically a savings.

Better to book the room and purchase tickets separately.

Regardless - always better to book sooner if the price is acceptable - you can always modify it later if better deals come along

Thank you!

The packages may not be much of a savings, but as a single mom, I can pay off with each paycheck instead of one lump sum. Same with when HHN tickets come out, I add them to the hotel/ticket package and pay off with time. So that way I'm not robbing Peter to pay Paul. For me, it works out better that way. Also, gives me time to save for all the splurges we would like to do as this probably will be our last trip together and alone. She'll be getting ready for college and getting out of the house and then I'll be going solo!! 😔🥳 lol

That sounds like the perfect plan. We were there in June and did the same thing…. Purchased and paid off the hotel/tickets so we could put aside spending money for all the eating 😂

The first time I went to UO it was a solo trip and I had a blast! I bet your daughter will still go with you - it’s a vacation!! 😎

Now that I know I’m able to modify later if I want to, I plan on booking by the end of the week. Thanks again for that tip @tony67

I booked my hotel room for September 2023 for HHN because Savy Traveler rate under $300 for RPR. With HHN being a separate ticket, you can just book the room now. You’re going to be up late doing a lot of walking so you don’t really need park tickets to cover your entire stay. HHN this year is going to 2 am, probably not rope dropping the next morning.

Unless your body insists on waking you up before 6am no matter what, even when on vacation and at HHN until 2am that morning... a mere 3hrs of sleep overnight makes that pre-HHN nap really important.

Doesn’t hurt to book early If the spirit moves you.

I used to when Loews had the you first program in order to secure the sweet/suite upgrade. Haven’t felt the need since.

I do hope the early booking doesn’t become ‘a thing’ like it is @ WDW. i already have to jump thru those hoops at 11 months out for majority of my trips there.

other than HHN, my trips tend to be more spontaneous. Noticed this year, availability was truly in short supply. Not sure if I can attribute revenge travel or people prebooking months out.

This ^.

I always book our hotel room at Universal pretty much as soon as I know the dates. The rates rarely drop, but if they do you can always book a new reservation and cancel the old one.

Just a couple of alternatives which would not force you to buy a package. 1, you could open a new savings account and have an auto-deposit or transfer set up to go into the account. This way you can book how you want but still have the funds available to pay it off when you go. Or 2, purchase Universal Orlando gift cards on a regular basis. They can be used to pay for your hotel when you arrive, as well as at the parks. https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/gift-cards/purchase.html

Or you could even do both.
