Should I book Feb 2011 Today OR Wait Until "The Rumor" of Monday - Aug 16 Discounts?

Planning trip to CBR for Feb 4 thru 13th, 2011......
NOW I am reading Rumors of Announcements maybe coming out tomorrow.
Should I book today and then change OR do it all tomorrow ???

Any recommendations or suggestions ???

I think it depends on how badly you want a specific resort, because a lot of times a discount will be available "here" but not "there". For instance, I knew that I wanted a preferred room at Pop, period. I also know that those rooms tend to fill up pretty quickly, and very quickly when there's a discount offered. Since I would not want to chance having to stay somewhere else, I made my ressie back in May and if I end up being able to apply a discount then that's great. But I know that no matter what discount(s) are released tomorrow, and how fast the rooms go, I still have one set aside.

If I were you, I'd just save myself the trouble and wait. The rooms type you want is either going to be available with a discount or its not. Having one booked won't help your chances of getting a discount because its separate inventory. I doubt that there is such limited availability for Feb that it would make any difference if you did it today vs. tomorrow.

The CM today told me to go ahead and make the ressie and then apply the discount if one comes out. Never had a CM offer that - I mentioned nothing about a discount when I called. i said I was looking and planning and wanted pricing on March 13....he gave it to me then said I should go ahead and hold it - then apply any discounts.

Makes me think he knows discounts are coming.

From what I read on a previous thread the Cm's have to meet a quota for booking. Thats why they strongly encourage you to book when they have you on the phone.

I asked about the discount and the CM told me to make the reservation and if a discount came out they would honor it. Now praying for the 40% on Dec. 8-10 2010. I need to stay at the BC atleast once.

Actually, having one booked does help. And you do stand the chance of it not being available. I know for a fact that there are already room types not available at CSR for some dates in February.
