Look at that cold Thursday forecast. I guess I should pack some ponchos, huh? How accurate is the Weather Channel for Orlando? Maybe I should search for a weather station in Orlando. :confused3

You can worry if you want, but it won't change the weather.
If it rains..... put a poncho on and keep going.
You'll be fine, only the Wicked Witch of West melts in the rain.

I think you'll be fine, ponchos are always a good idea to take to Fla. You never know when that afternoon thunderstorm will pop all year long.
If you are a 'cold' person, then take a coat. With that temp, our whole family is usually fine with sweatshirt jackets or similar. We have the same forecast for our trip next week and while I am considering added a few more pants and less shorts, our jackets will stay the same. Layers are always a good idea, shirt, then sweatshirt, then jacket, so that way when it is warm during the day you can have your shirt sleeve shirt, and still have your jacket after the sun goes down. You can leave your jackets, etc in a locker then get them when you are ready.
Also, we found the weather channel to be more accurate than the local stations when we are there :)

Did I mention that my DM would be going with us?

Looks to me like you've got a pretty nice week! Scattered T-storms doesn't mean a whole lot in Orlando. It can mean it rains over Epcot but Magic Kingdom stays dry, or it can mean it rains over Orlando but Tampa stays dry. It's a very vague forecast.

But as jkfreeman said, there's no point worrying about it. You'll either get rain or you won't. Go anyway, and have a great time!

Oh, we're going! :thumbsup2 You betcha!!

I was just wondering how accurate these forecasts are. The temps on Thursday are a bit cooler than I would like, but anything is better than Florida mid-summer. It's hot enough in Atlanta. I don't even like to go outside during the summer.

And considering that it's a pretty chilly morning right now, 70 looks darn good.

Once I'm there... :cloud9:

Unless that old Wicked Witch summons up a big bad storm. :stir:

(she's from Korea, though, so I guess she'd actually be the Wicked Witch of the East)

This place needs a *giggle* emoticon.

When we go and it's cool, we leave the hotel with a sweatshirt in the mornings and tie it around our waists by lunch time. Take advantage of the rain!!! I'm hoping that we get some next week because the crowds run away and we run to all the attractions!! It's the best crowd clearer!!!!! Have a wonderful trip.

When we went 1 1/2 ago the forecast said scattered storms for every day. It didn't rain on us once!! Meanwhile I had been so worried. But we did bring ponchos just in case. On our last day there I brought an umbrella just in case because we were going straight to the airport after MGM and I didn't want to carry around 4 changes of clothes.

Try not to worry :thumbsup2

Thanks!! I'm super excited. I hate that it's such a short trip, but any trip is better than no trip. We were planning a big trip for 2007, but I was asked to be an attendant in a wedding in the Riviera Maya, Mexico next May, so our funds will be going to that trip instead. I couldn't wait until 2008 to take my DD. So we decided on this short trip. We're takin' my DM b/c she's gettin' older, and my dd is her only grandchild. And she has military benefits, so we're staying at SOG. What a great price for such a big room near MK.

I can't believe we're down to two more "night-nights"! We've been marking the dates off on a calendar that I bought for DD.

My parents took me so many times growing up. I can't imagine not taking her as many times as possible. I'm still trying to figure out how so many people here go several times a year.

The afternoon thunderstorms are over. It is officially the "dry season".

The cooler temps and scatter storms on Thursday is the result of a cold front moving through. Once it is through, the weather is expected to bevery nice.

if you don't want to pack one, you can buy a poncho at any shop for only $158.99 or at least that's what it feels like to me. :rotfl:

Do you think that the cold front will pass over quickly? A cold front that moved thru Atlanta this past weekend brought REALLY cool weather, but mostly it was very windy. Do you expect the same?

I'm going to Walmart tonight. Don't you worry. It's been 5 years since I've been to DW, but ponchos cost about $148.99 the last time I was there. Who could forget that?

:teeth:

I usually Google an Orlando weather station for info. It does seem to be more accurate than weather.com. I'm looking at 37 degrees this morning in Ohio, so 70 for a high sounds pretty darned warm and lovely to me - rain or not! I'd take it.

We always get at least one day of rain during our December trip, and we've learned to not care. I always have the ponchos ready to go.

Pack ponchos AND a change of clothes. The cold front thunderstorms that can roll through Florida this time of year can leave a wake of cooler temps and wind, which makes anything that got wet much colder.

On Thursday, I'd start out in long pants and a sweat shirt or jacket with ponchos. Bring shorts to change into if the front isn't too bad.

I got the clear cheapy ponchos at WalMart just now.

I rarely wear shorts, so I'm not too concerned with that. 70 degrees is too chilly for me to wear shorts.

I bought a ton of snacks, got my tires checked, and now all I have to do is finish packing. YAY.

Thanks everyone!!

The actual front and rain will pass pretty quickly. It should come through Thursday morning. Expect cooler temps for the rest of the week. I think they are saying highs in the low 70s, lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Pretty cool nights.
